Jillian Michaels Sued

'Potentially Lethal'

Diet Product

8/4/2010 7:30 PM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

"Biggest Loser" star Jillian Michaels was just slapped with another multi-million dollar lawsuit over her weight loss products -- and this time, it's about a detox supplement that allegedly "might kill you."

Jillian Michaels Lawsuit
The class action lawsuit, obtained by TMZ, was filed today in L.A. County Superior Court by a woman who only wants to be known by her initials -- R.D. -- due to her "very real fear of retaliation OR harassment by Defendants."

In the lawsuit, R.D. claims Jillian's "Triple Process Total Body Detox & Cleanse" diet supplement contains a "potentially lethal combination of toxic ingredients" ... and it "might kill you."

In the suit, R.D. lays out what she considers to be the risks associated with various ingredients in Jillian's product, including:

-- Irish Moss Powder ... "causes gastrointestinal ulcers" and is "so toxic that it is the gel commonly applied to aircraft wings to dissolve ice"
-- Bearberry ... "known to cause nausea and vomiting"
-- Yarrow ... "a toxic lawn weed that causes dermatitis"
-- Chinese Rhubarb ... "a harsh laxative and dangerous diuretic that can cause sever dehydration and may cause irreversible liver damage"
-- Fenugreek Seed ... "interferes with digestion and causes both diarrhea and gas"

R.D. is suing Jillian and Thin Care International for more than $10 million for "actively and fraudulently" conspiring to hide the alleged dangers of their product.

If this story sounds familiar, it's not the first ... second ... or even the third time Jillian has been sued by people who claim her diet products are potentially toxic.

No comment from Jillian Michaels' camp.

"Chinese Rhubarb ... "a harsh laxative and dangerous diurectic that can cause sever dehydration and may cause irrecversible liver damage"

You may want to spell check, the word 'irreversible' is spelled incorrectly........

"interferes with digestion and causes both diarrhea and gas"

Well, it would be hard to gain weight if you get that from the stuff. Sounds like it really works!

Jillian is just sticking her name on anything she can, she doesn't even care if the product works or can kill you. Why do people take advice from her??? She is just another money hungry here today gone tomorrow personality.

It continues to amaze me that people like Michaels and Kardashian continue to promote this garbage and get away with it. And it saddens me further that the media is so desperate for ad dollars that they sell space, time and whatever to sell it.

At least he or she is not complaining that it did not make them lose weight. This time the suit has merit in my opinion.

More than likely though, it's something like, if you eat a bucketful of these ingredients every single day, you will die. But in small doses it's fine. I mean, even water, drunken gallons in one sitting will kill you. Remember the "hold your pee for a wii" lady?

Fenugreek isn't toxic. Lactating mothers use it to help increase breast milk.

@ Number 6...."drunken in gallons". Are you seriously that dumb?

I kept seeing this woman on website ad pop-ups and wondered, "Who the hell is this grotesque person?" Very similar to seeing that Cheshire Cat-grinning troll ubiquitously grinning from magazine covers at the check out. No, not Katie Couric, Rachel Ray. And then I realized, sadly, that people actually know who they are and evidently follow their antics. Retreating to my library with the crickets.

Celebrities Suck

these diet pill will harm you... all you have to do is eat smaller portions, and workout at least 3 times a week.

all these diets promise that you'll lose weight but they don't tell you it will harm your health. It reminds me of KK diet plan. If it works so well why is she still struggling with weight problem same as her sisters? It's all about them making money they don't give a flying fck about you...

Products like these are meant to be taken on a regular basis, especially a cleanse product - most you take for a week and don't use it again for probably months. The ingredients in large doses may be lethal, but they are most likely minimal amounts within the product and just like anything else - if you take too much of it yet it is lethal. If you drink too much water it is lethal - so honestly chances are slim that this individual has any chance of winning whatsoever.

I meant to put AREN'T meant to be taken on a regular basis.

Ward Bond

This is crap. I'm a herbalist and a tv host of a natural health program. The herbs are harmless in this formula. Anything taken in excess can be bad for anyone's health. The judge should throw this case out into the street. Another case of someone wanting a free financial ride by suing a celebrity.
