Steven Slater -- Props From the Slide Company

8/12/2010 7:00 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

There's one company that's thrilled with the way Steven Slater left his JetBlue plane during Monday's heroic departure -- the people who built the slide.

Steven Slater Slide
TMZ has learned the people at Goodrich -- who manufacture the inflatable emergency evacuation slide for the JetBlue Embraer ERJ-190 plane -- tell us they're "pleased" with the way the slide performed during Slater's infamous moment.

A rep for the company tells us the slide "functioned properly ... just like it was designed to."

As for Slater's technique -- Goodrich says, "From what we can tell, he did things exactly the way he was supposed to ... with the exception of throwing his luggage down the slide."

FYI -- Goodrich claims that if you're ever in a similar situation -- let the baggage go.

For "Disturbed" - JetBlue is correct about the endangerment of the slide opening! While often times, a person can easily get hurt exiting the plane that way (believe it or not) it's the people on the ground, on the ramp who could have been hurt or killed by the slide deploying! The force with which the slide deploys is extreme. Haven't you seen the number of employees who surround a plane shortly after taxiing up to the gate!! Good grief. If an emergency evacuation is needed, the risk of going down the slide is much less than staying in the plane, obviously even though injuries are often sustained in such an emergency.

I can't believe people think what he did was so wonderful. He could have easily hurt or killed someone and people applaud his actions.

How would you liked to have been on the ground doing your job and bam that slide slames into you and you are hurt or killed all because somebody had his little feelings hurt because someone cursed at him? Boo hoo, I'm so sensitive.

If I had been a passenger on that play going about my trip peacefully, I sure wouldn't have enjoyed hearing his expletive filled rant over the intercom system. If he didn't like being cursed at, what makes him think I'd enjoy it.

I not saying I've never thought about leaving a job in a blaze of glory but I'd rathar act in a civilized manner. There are other ways to get at someone that doesn't endanger others and break the law.

He could have had her arrested at the day and at the very least ruined the rest of her day. Instead, he just brought his behavior not to her level, but way below.

To those of you that applaud his behavior, why don't you get a job at the airlines and try standing in the way of a deploying slide and then we'll see what you have to say if you're still alive to say it.

I'm glad he was arrested and hope they throw the book at him. Maybe he'll think twice in the future about how his actions can affect others.

I hope you all will.
