Joe Perry -- The Steven Tyler Shove Was an Accident

8/20/2010 8:30 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

Joe Perry claims he never intended to shove Steven Tyler off of the stage during an Aerosmith concert in Toronto earlier this week ... no matter how intentional it may have looked on the video.

A rep for the band tells TMZ, "Joe wanted his fans to know he would never deliberately push Steven off the stage" ... noting that Joe is a "total gentleman."

We posted the footage earlier this week -- showing Tyler playfully hip-bumping Perry ... and then Perry reacting with a hip-bump of his own ... a bump that sent Tyler flying face first into the crowd.

See, this was all playful fun TMZ. Stop blowing things out of proportion would ya?

And I actually found this hilarious. Steven was cool with it. :) I was actually more concerned about Steven possibly getting fangirl raped when he fell. XD

first off, i was at this concert and a hour before the show did my meet and greet with both joe and steven. and 2nd joe was a complete ass the whole time at said meet and greet. he was pissed off at steven for the idol thing and didn't bother to hide it from his fans. and the person who said he wasn't singing is totally off base! I was front row for the show and there is no way he wasn't singing! in fact i'm in this tmz video and joe pushed him on purpose!

Anyone with eyes can see that Steven bumped Joe first. They were playing on stage and it got out of hand.

People exaggerate things too much. Its not that big a deal.
