MJ Cemetery Charging 3 Bucks to Leave Gifts

9/15/2010 8:00 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

It's gonna cost Michael Jackson fans if they want to continue leaving gifts inside the King of Pop's mausoleum -- because TMZ has learned the cemetery is now charging a special $3 MJ delivery fee.

Michael Jackson mausoleum gift fee.

According to sources at the infamous burial space, Forest Lawn Cemetery in Glendale, CA has decided to take down the stage where fans were previously allowed to place gifts -- and are now enacting a new gifting policy ... so long as fans pay the price and abide by the rules.

Effective immediately, cemetery staff will take gifts for MJ inside the mausoleum -- where fans are still forbidden from setting foot -- for a $3 fee ... oh yeah, as long as those gifts are flowers.

Anything else -- teddy bears, posters, picture frames, candles -- will get dumped ... and if they run out of space inside, we're told excess gifts will have to brave the elements outside.

UPDATE: The cemetery tells us "Anyone who purchases flowers, for any decedent, can request that the arrangement purchased at Forest Lawn is to be placed at an interment site."

This story is such bull ****!!! I have been purchasing flowers from the Forest Lawn flower shop for Michael since last summer. There has always been a $3 placement fee, and FYI, this fee is not just for MJ its for all people at Forest Lawn! Thank you Mo for putting up that FAQ from the Forest Lawn site, that is exactly what the fee is, and its always been that way. TMZ, you could atleast go in the Forest Lawn flower shop site first to investigate, its very easy, just click add to cart under any of the flowers and there you will see this placement fee, even before you put in the name of who you are sending them to!!!!

No, it would be the tourists, too, with no special relationship to Michael, a bag of popcorn in the hand and chewing gum in the mouth, chatting, laughing, giggling.
And this does really give me the creeps.

Holly Terrace is the perfect place for Michael. I see nothing wrong with the family allowing fans to come to the gravesite on the anniversary of MJ's death annually. Otherwise it should be closed to the public. FL and the Jacksons need to put their foot down and close MJ's gravesite to the public. (I see absolutely nothing wrong with a yearly pilgrimage to his grave by the fans every June 25th and ongoing). Otherwise shut it down.
(IMO: Those fans should put all of their energy into bringing attention to the fact that Michael was murdered!!!)

I would never pay that 3.00 fee. Instead I would donate that money to NAMBLA in MJ's memory. Talk about a fitting tribute.

Hi moni and mymjj5. Moni, I admit that I found myself surprised when Harvey talked about Las Vegas as a possible site for Michael's body. I actually didn't think it was a bad idea. Of course, it would depend how it was done, but if I'm honest I have to say that I think Michael would have loved something like that. ;)

Ultimately, I do agree with mymjj5 on this. I too believe that Holly Terrace and its immediate surrounding area should be closed off to the public, with the exception of fans being allowed to stand outside the building and offer flowers every June 25th IF the Jackson family wants to allow that. Of course, I'm sure this [closing off the specific area] is easier said than done. I imagine FL would have to employ 24 hour guards if they wanted to enforce something like this since other parts of FL would still have to remain accessible to the public.

Freddie Mercury made the right choice by instructing his loved ones to cremate him. It was never even made public what was done with his ashes (also his wish), although rumor has it that half may have been scattered over Lake Geneva and the other half given to his mother. Anyway, cremation made the whole dilemma of where to put him so much easier on those he left behind. Of course Freddie had the "benefit" of knowing for a long time that he was going to die, so he had time to be very specific. I still cannot understand why Michael was not more specific in his will about where he wanted to be placed. He had to know that this would be a big issue when he passed on. I feel for the family - they were left with quite a tough decision. I'm guessing they didn't cremate him because the JWs do not believe in this method.

Great post again Cathy,
I'd like to think that since MJ was so detailed oriented that he actually made all arrangements as to is final resting place. The media's reporting to the public was most likely distorted to make it seem as if there were unresolved issues or infighting among the siblings. Of course Jermaine was out and about trying to rally public support for burial at Neverland. Don't get mad at him yall. Just get used to him. That's how he is and MJ loved him anyway.

btw: a lot of celebrities and political figures have a brother who act like jermaine.

The most fitting tribute to MJ are the 39 charities supported by his estate through his Heal the World Foundation. The North American Man Boy Love Association was not supported or endorsed by Michael Jackson EVER! Michael Jackson had no association with NAMBLA.
Just falsely accuse MJ and drag him through the judicial system. Yet, since 1978 NAMBLA has been allowed to recruit and seduce male children for the intent purpose of sexual relationships. No one seems to be upset. There have been no arrests! No raids! No swoop downs! No investigative stories! Katie Couric, Diane Sawyer, Oprah, Matt Lauer, Larry King, the FOX Noise Channel, OhWell, Dustin, Kimbo, and This is IT are not concerned about NAMBLA hurting children. They are not interested in exposing NAMBLA either. TMZ is not standing outside of their district/national offices trying to obtain photos or scoop an exclusive. NAMBLA actually charges a membership fee. This is IT is willing to send money to them and came to TMZ to solicit funding as well. This is it is hiding his true intent with a pot shot at Michael Jackson. This is It is most likely soliciting for NAMBLA. (triple yuck, yuck, yuck!)

This is it=John Branca or Kenny Ortega. your guess is as good as mine You can never be sure as to whom it is your talking to online.
