Katherine Jackson Sues AEG Over Michael's Death

9/16/2010 10:17 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

Kathrine Jackson believes the death of her son Michael Jackson could have been prevented ... if it wasn't for the "negligent" actions of the doctor who was hired to keep him healthy.

091510_katherine_video
During a recent interview, Katherine was asked if MJ's death was avoidable, to which she responded, "It could have been prevented because he had hired a doctor to watch over him. The doctor was negligent."

As we previously reported, Katherine Jackson and Michael Jackson's children are suing AEG Live -- claiming the company breached its agreement to provide physical care for Michael Jackson -- and that AEG was negligent in their hiring of Dr. Conrad Murray as MJ's physician.

In the suit, Katherine claims AEG's contract with Michael "created a legal duty for AEG to act reasonably toward the physical well-being of Michael Jackson."

In the document, Katherine also blames AEG for hiring Dr. Murray without  a proper background check -- claiming, "AEG did not provide a doctor who was truly looking out for Jackson's well-being and did not provide equipment."

The suit also alleges AEG caused emotional distress to Michael's son Prince because he witnessed Michael suffering and dying, and "he was put in a position as bystander to these tragic events."

Kenny Ortega, who produced the planned London concerts for Michael, is also named as a defendant.

The attorney who filed the suit, Brian J. Panish, released a statement saying, "The purpose of this lawsuit is to prove to the world the truth about what happened to Michael Jackson, once and for all."

Heidi & Spencer -- Kiss & Make-Up

This photo pretty much proves Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt aren't getting divorced ... and may also make you lose your breakfast.

The Situation -- He Shore Found a Nice Apartment

When The Situation decided to go apartment hunting in Los Angeles, he picked out a place with the most guido-sounding name he could find -- The Palazzo. Ay-oh!

0913_situation_launch
But in all seriousness ... The Palazzo is a giant, swanky apartment community the size of a small city that happens to be located right near the CBS lot where "Dancing with the Stars" shoots. We're told he had his eyes on a unit that ran more than $5k per month ... but no sweat off his brow --  "DWTS" picks up the tab.

And the best part -- he doesn't have to share a bathroom with Angelina!

The truth of the death of Michael Jackson is that he was a 50 year old man who made some poor choices in his life. He bears sole responsibility for his death. Nobody forced drugs down his throat. His constant excuses of poor pitiful me finally played out.

At what point, if any, was Michael responsible for his own health? I can't get over sue happy people who take no responsibility for their own actions & blames everyone else for all their troubles.

you people make me sick the way you talk about MJ. He was a good hearted person who would do anything to help the people who needed help. Do you not remember all the charties he gave to.also those kids now grown men said MJ never touched them. Their parents were out for money and thats what its all about ''''money.''''RIP Michael, love you

Well at least she is not prejudice. It's about time the black community realizes that Black professional can mess up just as much as white professionals. Go get him Miss Jackson, show him want for. Sue his pants off. Then see if it will bring your son back.

Michael's mom and dad don't want to miss out on a good thing and make some bucks off his death. From the day he was born they were making money by selling him like a stockyard animal, and clearly they don't intend to stop. I wonder if his drug problems, immaturity, and the host of other lifelong curses he carried are attributable to his home environment.

When I first heard about this latest lawsuit in the MJ saga, I had to laugh. Is this crazy woman serious? Perhaps if she had been a better and more protective mother he would still be alive. Bottom line...it is all about the money........greedy.........

Sad, sad, sad. Mama wants a chunk of cash from her son's death. The ultimate sick exploitation of the dead. Sure the doc was hired to provide physical care, but isn't someone considered a legal adult when he/she is 18??? C'mon Jacksons, quit trying to get money the easy way!

This is gonna disappoint a lot of the Hateration on here, which is mostly what I'm reading so far. Funny, how none of these same people have picked up a court transcript or looked at an FBI full-fledged report, or even looked over MJ's autopsy report. It never cease to believe me just how people like to cleave on to all the lies and deceit when it comes to this very loving and genrous soul, who only wanted to heal a dying world.

I definitely agree with Mrs. Jackson. If it were my son I would be doing the same thing. There has always been something very "fishy" about this entire case from day one. We have a doctor (heart specialists, as you will) who performed CPR on a BED? Michael should have been placed on a firm surface.

In addition, the guy leaves MJ's bedside without a nurse or someone to monitor him (this doctor knew the dangers of the medication he was pushing). If I remember correctly, don't doctors have to take some type of oath that helps to ensure the safety and well-being of their patients?

Also, far too much time had elasped before an ambulance was actually called? 911 tapes reveal that Michael's identity was never fully emphasized. No one was made to know firsthand that the patient in hand was the greatest entertainer in the world.....Why?

Michael was long gone when the medical crew arrived and many of them will testify to this fact. Moreover, Conrad tried to get rid of a lot of evidence before help arrived. He even made a statement to other staff members in the home that day NOT to contact anyone until he took care of a few things first?

Then when help finally does arrive, he refuses to sign a death
certficate and he quietly disappears for a few hours without anyone knowing his whereabouts? I could go on and on, but does anyone else smell a big FAT rat yet???

Add up all of the facts and it looks like MJ was murdered in every sense of the word. Of course, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that he would be worth sooo much more dead than alive.

Conrad was simply a puppet who bungled his role terribly. Guess the heat was getting a little bit too hot for him. He was even contemplating suicide at one point.

Hmmmmm......supposedly he's experiencing tremendous debt and can't even pay his child support. Makes one step back and wonder where all this money is coming from to keep his medical operations running, to cover his mortgage, taxes, car
payments, child support, lawyers expenses, etc...etc...etc....

Don't think that ruthless, blood-sucking companies and business organizations such as AEG and Sony don't even have the first clue about any of this. If you do, you're only fooling yourself.

Whatever you want it to be

Michael Jackson was responsible for his death. It was his decisions of health, skin color (Negro to Caucasion), overdose of pills, and choice of doctor(s))
