What? Riki Lake can't afford electric or gas heat and has to use a portable fuel heater. I thought this was 2010 not 1910...

Really simple...she has rental insurance, lists a bunch of expensive things in the house that would be covered by the insurance, moves those things out under cover of darkness, burns house down and collects the insurance...sometime later she picks those expensive and unharmed things up from where they were hidden...does that explain it for you?

Forgot to mention that she could also have claim to have had things in the house that never existed...you know...like when Al Bundy claimed to have the Mona Lisa in the trunk of his Dodge when it was stolen? Oh...and TWO salamis!

Not sure, but last time I saw a portable heater being refueled was on the History channel about life in the 1800's...

Why would anyone rent a house in Malibu which requires a portable heater? Its a house and not maybe a trailer?

And why would a woman under 90 (and with kids) be using a gas heater? They do make electric space heaters now, you know. Or was this maybe not even a trailer but a tent?

Maybe its time that toney but wildfire-prone Malibu create some ordinances against use of such combustible equipment in its city limits?

I wonder how much the owner will sue Ricki for now? Unless it is the only heat source the owner provided, of course. But then, well, how ghetto is Ricki been living lately?

Why would you have a fueled portable heater near a couch in the first place? Does it say if it was inside or outside? If inside or in an enclosed space the fumes build up and any sore of static spark can cause a fireball. She's quite lucky to be alive. Yes accidents due happen and most unfortunately due to ignorance and stupid actions.

Looks like she should have bought an Edenpure heater, they don't start fires.
