Why is it that the judges in the Cali legal system accept the BS from celebs? If it were J.Q. Public pulling any of this they would be hammered so hard their teeth would pop out. Aren't they SMART enough to see around it all or is it all about the 'camera time' for them as well?

Lindsay is a severe narcissist, and sociopath. She suffers from and is addicted to the "Me principle" - the principle that all else revolves around her, and only her. And she's a sociopath because she has a non-existent sense of consequences, exhibiting a complete unawareness that her actions effect those around her. Both of these attributes she inherited from her own father, who acts in similar narcissistic, and erratic behavior. She has a problem, to be sure, but it is not a substance problem. If she had a substance problem, she would have a drug of choice, and she would have gone through withdrawal while in jail and in treatment - symptoms would have been physically obvious.
