'Dora the Explorer' Voice Made $300k Over 3 Years

10/13/2010 4:35 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

She claims she's worth millions ... but TMZ has learned the girl who voiced Dora on "Dora the Explorer" was paid roughly $300,000 for her three years on the show -- the same rate she agreed to when she signed her original contract back in 2007.

1012_caitlin_sanchez_getty_EX
According to our spies inside Nickelodeon, Caitlin Sanchez raked in approximately $1,250 an hour for her work on the popular children's TV show -- and still has untold amounts of cash in the pipeline from merchandise royalties and residuals from reruns.

But as we previously reported, 14-year-old Sanchez claims her salary just doesn't cut it -- insisting she was unfairly pressured into accepting the deal and subsequently lost out on the millions she thinks she's worth.

How much were you making at 14?

This cartoon has been around for over 10 years with various voices. This kid is now 14. She did the voice for 3 years at 100k per year. This kid did not put in 40 hours a week 52 weeks per year. Her voice is changing. That simple. Get another little kid voice. The kids may notice for a couple of times and then it's the new Dora voice until the next voice. It's still Dora the Explorer cartoon the kids watch.

FOR THOSE OF YOU SAYING THAT SHE DESERVES MORE MONEY B/C OF ALL THE MONEY THE DORA BRAND BRINGS IN, DID YOU GUYS NOT READ THE SECTION THAT SAID SHE'S ONLY BEEN THE VOICE FOR 3 YRS? OTHER PEOPLE DID THE VOICE BEFORE HER AND OTHERS WILL DO IT AFTER HER. DORO DIDN'T JUST BECOME POPULAR WHEN THIS GIRL TOOK THE JOB. I GUESS IF SHE WANTS TO GET ANOTHER JOB IN HOLLYWOOD SHE NEEDS TO GET A NEW MANAGER AND LAWYER. PROVE TO THE COURTS THAT IT'S VOICE ON ALL THE DOLLS THEN SHE MIGHT GET SOME MONEY AND THEN THEY WILL PULL HER DOLL OFF THE SHELF. LOL! TO BE HONEST I THOUGHT THE DORA VOICE WAS AN ADULT. LIKE SOMEONE ELSE SAID SHE'S A VOICE NOT THE CREATER, WRITER, PRODUCER, OR CARTOONIST.

If I had it I would pay her more than that to be quiet. Not a big Dora fan at all. I find it very irritating. Sorry Dora we turn you off in my house. Wizards, talking bushes and that Swiper dude's too much for us.

Dont blame the network blame the dumb ass' that manage her oh wait that would be her parents. If the network wanter her that bad then they wouldve waited for whoever to negotiate a deal. People want to go into contracts and not read what its about...they just see the $$$$. Her parents are just mad that they made a bad deal. What 14 yr old do you know that would complain about $300,000?

There's a difference between being an actor and a voice actor, so you can't compare her to the kid in 'Two And A Half Men'.
You can't either compare her to the people in 'The Simpsons'. This girl get dubbed in other countries, so we have never heard her voice. The people in 'The Simpsons', 'South Park' and 'Family Guy' are not dubbed.
So I don't really see the deal with the money in this case.

Some cartoons the voice helps make the cartoon character. These are adult pofessionals. They don't have to worry about their voice changing.

Nancy Cartwright grown woman is the voice of Bart Simpson.

I forgot the mans name but he is a 45 year old black man who is the voice of ELMO to name a few.

When you put a face to the voice it takes away for the character. Thats why you know an established characters voice and not the person behind the voice.

Did anyone even bother to read the article? She's still getting money for who knows how long, Besides, she can't legally enter into a contract and her parents apparently thought she was getting enough when they signed for her. Face it, she's been biting her lip and planning this money grab since she started and would have done the same even if she worked for them for 10 years. She has a contract and they can do whatever the contract allows. Since when is $100,000/yr + all the other income for an unknown teen voice a rip off? It's unbelievable how many people believe that employees are entitled to all the profits from a product. Don't our schools teach anything anymore?

Mike is not a hater, he is a realist just like many of the rest of us out here. She's a voice over cartoon reader, not an actor. I am a single white male but have an adopted minority 5 year old daughter I love with all of my heart and life so don't be calling me out as prejudice or a hater. Little ungrateful Ms. Sanchez is VERY fortunate to get what she has at Nic and has in no way been underpaid but a silver spoon fed unthankful kid. Shame on her, shame on her parents, shame on any one out there that says she's mistreated just because she's not a white caucasion but hispanic. She is soooo blessed but feels entitled to royalty status and discriminated against because of her race to not be paid millions? BS. Personally, I can't stand her annoying whiney voice period, but I have to endure it for my daughter and any toy out there is equally annoying to listen to. I'm a professional skilled DJ and I don't make that kind of money, never have, never will. Get over it people, it's just a voice and there are hundreds of people who can replace her and will take a tenth of what she makes graciously and happily with no complaints. Let's see what prima donna Sanchez can do talent and money wise when her butt is booted from that very annoying show that Nic has suposedly mistreated her so badly on. Oh wait, can we get rid of the Freshbeat Band, The Backyardigans, Toot and Puddle and about a half dozen other worthless shows on Nic while we're canning the Holier than Thou Ms. Sanchez too, please?

I keep on hearing that se signed the papers. No corporation or person can have a legal contract with a child. So I do not see the problem. The contarct is null and void if she not her parents signed the contract. And how long has this objection or process going on and why is it a problem now. Did a new objective person come in? Well it seems her plan is to humiliate Disney/Nickoloian because the long and short of it is a big corporation ripped off a little girl and she ethically wants things corrected. Next move Disney? I will protest for her and her family. GIVE THE GIRL HER MONEY! GIVE THE GIRL HER MONEY! GIVE THE GIRL HER MONEY! COME ON JOIN ME!

@1- she's not a child star. No one even knows who she is. When you're voicing a cartoon you don't get paid what an on-creen actor gets paid.

I suggest this chick go qork at in'n'out for a few months to learn the value of money, and leave her spot to someone who would PAY for the experience and networking opportunities.

This kid got more than enough and was paid above ACTRA rates. She is the second actress to play the voice of Dora- this is not a character she helped to develop.

She is not entitled to merchandising rights, the reason someone like Miley Cyrus may have gotten some money is because of the license agreement to use her IMAGE.

I wonder if all the cast members at Disneyland/World should also sue with such baseless action.
