Oksana Grigorieva and the Gloria Allred Connection

10/12/2010 2:00 PM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

Oksana Grigorieva made a beeline for attorney Gloria Allred after secretly recording Mel Gibson ... sources tell TMZ.

1011_gloria_allred_oksana_EX_getty_TMZ
We've learned ... days after recording Mel's crazy rants on February 18, Oksana met separately several times with Gloria and attorney Eric George.  Oksana went back and forth before finally deciding to hire George.

Our sources say Gloria had advised Oksana to go to the cops immediately and file a domestic violence complaint.  Gloria also told Oksana she should hold a news conference where she would play the secret tapes.  It's important to note ... just two months before, Gloria scored a $10 million settlement for Rachel Uchitel and then canceled her news conference just hours before it was supposed to go down.

George engineered a $15 million package for Oksana and Lucia in May.  Sources say during the mediation ... Oksana was back on the phone talking to Gloria.  After signing the mediation docs, Oksana disavowed the deal and began lawyer shopping again.  We do not know if Oksana continued talking to Gloria.

We asked Gloria about the meetings and whether she had anything to do with the possible sale of the tapes.  Gloria said, "No comment.  It is the policy of our law firm never to discuss who does or does not contact us and for those who do contact us we never disclose what is discussed."

The agreement she signed and initialed will come back to bite her.
Esp if a Judge upholds it. All her lawyer shopping can be refunded to the defendant

It is one of the good things about our justice system that would allow Mel to recover money due to frivolous claims.

And if you really make the Judges angry I have seen them sanction the other side for thousands of dollars and be liable for attorney fees.

Oksana is waging a kamikaze PR war.
I hope Fort Mel remains impregnable.

Maybe it's an election idea to stop this suing in America.
I mean it looks like you can sue somebody for everything and get a lot of $.
How can rich Americans or companies even breath without being scared.
Hookers and mistresses can sue and get millions sound very wrong to me...

Still though, Mel was drawing her in the opposite direction, as he was still both threatening & flattering her to destroy the "evidence" & make an agreemnet on that. Had it not been for the Violet Kowal affair, Oksana might eventually have signed the final "long" version, but this could not secure that the problem was solved.

And you know this how? And don't point me to a gossip site.

I don't know really. But I suppose Mel did anything possible to have the "evidence" destroyed. The May agreement looks like his laywers did what they could to secure this matter.

But once Mel had made these phonecalls & they were recorded, they could never disappear again! As Horowitz stated, it's even a legal question if it's allowed to destroy such "evidence". Perhaps the laywers could argue that they didn't know about any criminal act, but that's a superficial approach.

GA probably examined the "evidence" & reached her conclusion, that there was evidence of DV & it should be taken to the court & that a conference should be held where the "evidence" should be exposed in the media.

This seems to be a common procedure when GA is engaged. She proposed something similar last month, when Violet Kowal & Riley talked about their troubles with Kris Herzog:

"According to sources close to the case, Riley attempted to get help from Allred, Kowal's attorney. But Riley claims that Allred kept trying to get him and Kowal to hold a press conference. "She didn't care about anything we had to say other than going after Mr. Gibson," a source close to the investigation claims Riley told authorities."

The problem is not that she is new to the country and does not know the law. The problem is she is stubborn and doesn't want to listen. She looks for lawyers who tell her what she wants to hear.

She didn't want to get rid of Herzog because he was going along with what she wants to hear which is of course she'll be giga-rich.

So why would she be talking to Gloria during the mediation? to find out if she could get more? To find out if she should keep the domestic violence tapes til later. Guess Gloria forgot to tell her not to sign the short form or maybe not to bother signing the long form she could do better. One thing for sure good ole' Oh the Ho wasn't intimidated by all those lawyers and judges at the mediation like Horowitz likes to say. Intimidated people just don't pick up the phone and talk to some other lawyer while the lawyer they have hired is working for them. I think O the Ho never intended to follow any mediation agreement, she only went that route to make extortion less obvious. The whole exercise in mediation was a farce.

I guess Gloria is supposed to represent some type of witness for the domestic violence as O told her about it (something she never told her own lawyer). She's easier to find than Tony. Just look for a gold digging celeb f'er and there is Gloria. It is her rear love after all.

Nice that Gloria told O to go to the cops. Perhaps though good old Gloria should have taken O to the cop shop with the tapes. After all O was so scared for her life, she might have had some fear doing that. A good lawyer would know that. But then of course O might have been to busy lawyer shopping to take Gloria up on the offer. Anyone want to bet Gloria is going to end up being the leaker of the tapes. After all O didn't do it, nor her sister and who else knew.

I wonder who she'll blame as the leaker of the tapes.

@Mishie
She certainly did a lot of editing on those recordings - probably with equipment/computer paid for by Mel.
