Producers Cleared in Horrific 'Transformers 3' Crash

10/13/2010 7:00 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

"Transformers 3" producers are not to blame for the terrible on-set car crash that left one female extra partially paralyzed ... this according to state investigators.

A rep for the Indiana Occupation Safety and Health Administration tells TMZ ... an investigation into the September 1 accident -- in which a tow cable snapped and sliced through Gabriela Cedillo's skull -- concluded that producers operated by the book in coordinating the fateful stunt.

Instead, IOSHA tells TMZ the accident occurred "due to the failure of a weld connecting a car to a cable. The weld was made by a certified welder and all necessary safety precautions were in place."

The IOSHA rep added, "No citations or fines will be issued. This was an unfortunate and unforeseeable accident."

As we previously reported, Cedillo -- who is now paralyzed on the left side of her body -- filed a negligence lawsuit against Paramount Pictures and DreamWorks earlier this month.

Let's see you selfish a-holes that are complaining about lawsuits get crippled, lose half your eyesight, and have brain damage by a company "accident", then tell us about you're "tired of all these lawsuits" and you will not sue!!!!!!! Unbelievable how selfish and callous some Americans are! You're the ones that are headed to Hell!

the Transformers franchise make billions of dollars off ticket sales, Merchandise, etc. why can't they give some of the loot to this young woman who's paralyzed for life. Paramount is selfish and heartless!

I do feel sorry for this girl for what happened but I just don't like it when these people try to make quick money for unfortunate accidents like this. Besides in a movie like this, "humans" are not the real stars in this movie, it's the transformers themselves who are the stars. Optimus Prime, Megatron, Starscream, Bumblebee, etc. Can't wait for the movie to come out

Stop calling this an accident, it was negligence. Welds don't just break under properly calculated loads.

And extras don't just "accidentally" end up in scenes where stunts are being performed and they are in real danger of bodily injury if something goes wrong. In those kinds of scenes you use professional stunt men who know the risks involved.

And OSHA sucks. They operate as a tool of industry not as a government watchdog agency that's looking out for employee safety.

are you people retarded?.. she DIDN'T have to be involved with this movie. she knew that there is ALWAYS a risk when you agree to be involved with a stunt.

you people do realize that there are such things as ACCIDENTS right?

seriously guys, stop chattin bull! "im not goin watch the movie untill they pay" you'll be there on the opening night whether they do or not. "they'd better pay up, and pay well" or what? seriously, what is it with you americans? you read/watch/listen to crappy news stations that MAKE news and dont report news. you believe the first thing that comes out of the anchours mouth. from the get go of this whole story, the media has twisted the whole thing by giving partial facts and filling in the blanks themselves.

fact of the matter is, it doesnt matter what job you do, if you do things by the book and make sure everything is safe, accidents still happen. its happened to me, its happened to my friends, its life get over it. if investigators say everything was done by the book, then accept it and get on with your own lives.

Even if the studio does not feel they are responsible I hope they are responsible enough to look after this girl. I mean this girl's career is likely all but over now and this movie will bring in 500 million or more. I sure they can afford to set her up with a few million just out of professional courtesy.
