I think everyone but TMZ realizes that it was clearly based off of Hendrix's Woodstock performance. I'm sure Slash knew everyone would realize it was a cover/homage, although he didn't count on the ignorance of TMZ staffers.
It would have been nice if the view was from the front so we could watch him play in addition to hearing it. It's almost pointless to watch him doing what he does without showing what he's doing.
As a guitarist, I don't understand how this was the most amazing ever? Have you ever heard of Jimi Hendrix or Zakk Wylde. He play just the notes of the song with no flourish. Anyone who knows how to read tab could play that. All I saw, was a good performance, with the most basic of playing, and disrespect with a top hat. That's what I see.
