Slash's National Anthem -- A Real Icebreaker

10/13/2010 6:00 PM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

Slash strapped up and strung out last night during the L.A. Kings game -- ripping one of the most incredible renditions of "The Star-Spangled Banner" we've ever heard.

Slash National Anthem

Must have worked too -- because the Kings thrashed Atlanta 3-1 at the Staples Center.

I'm a fan of Slash, but I've heard better.

You haven't heard Hendrix's anti-war version replete with machine gun chords. You're in for an amazing audio experience. It might be on you tube.

Wow for such a "patriotic" country what a pathetic excuse for a crowd. Don't they teach the words to the national anthem in school? I didn't hear one person singing. Shameful.

This is how it's done: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=meLpuF9UMvk

Char Jackson

Sounds alot like BB King's version in "Heart & Souls" with Robert Downey Jr. and Elizabeth Shue back in the 90's

What's with all the "Jimi was better" stuff? That guy has been dead over 40 years!!!!

Slash is alive now. Did any of you folks see Jimi live?

Well, Slash is still alive and you can see him play.

slash is a guitar icon... and as it has been stated this was a sporting event not a concert where people was there to see them. i have seen many people butch the SSB singing it trying to make it theres..its not!! its our national anthem and good to see slash respected it as not to offend anyone and to appeal to everyone... and i have seen slash many times live over the years and he is one of the best soloist of all time... and for you people with no rock and roll history 1 album??? i know he played on 4 very good albums before guns and roses left his new album rocks and velvet revolver albums was very good too.. why dont you pick up some music and listen to the whole album before you judge instead of the mainstream radio record people want you to hear..

i am sure he could have done more with it but he is at a sporting event where he was probly told to go out there play it and get out. the players are not wanting to stand around and wait. Hendrix was better but he was at a concert where he could do what he wanted to. but with that said it was a nice rendetion of the SSB. But ofcourse Hendrix was better but I also have heard Dave Mustaine play it better aswell.
