Lenny Dykstra

Gimme My Damn Jet Back!

10/14/2010 4:04 PM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

Former Philadelphia Phillies star-turned-financial disaster Lenny Dykstra is demanding the immediate return of his private jet ... after it was repossessed by creditors.

Dykstra filed papers in U.S. Bankruptcy Court in California yesterday stating that 3 creditors -- Constant Aviation, Classic Interiors and Crystal Air Aviation -- violated a court order and took possession of his Gulfstream jet. It's unclear when the plane was actually taken.

Dykstra -- who names himself as his lawyer -- claims a judge had granted him an "automatic stay" ... which means even though he may be in debt, his property was temporarily off-limits.

Now, he declares in the docs that "the airplane must be returned" ... and he wants an $800,000 check to boot.

So far, Dykstra's creditors -- all three -- aren't talking.

UPDATE: The president of Constant Aviation tells TMZ, "It's not [Lenny's] airplane, I don't know if he is confused. Our dealings with him are over and we are moving past the Lenny Dykstra saga, as I think everyone should."

This guy is a train wreck. I know some of his family members and THEY even have judgments against him for money he didn't pay them when they worked for him. He's delusional and his mind has been fried by drugs. He's not even on speaking terms with his own family. So sad.

I am glad to see this deadbeat con man is finally getting what's coming to him after stiffing so many people over the years.

And thanks TMZ for referring to him as a "former Phillie" and not a "former Met," the Mets have enough problems!

You people are idiots.

1) Being that the plane has a creditor, it's either leased or financed. You can't keep something you don't pay for in bankruptcy.

2) IF he wasn't making payments on the plane and his creditor wanted to repossess it, the automatic stay is in effect to ALL creditors and no creditor can take ANY action to repossess collateral without explicit permission of the Bankruptcy court by way of motion to lift the automatic stay.

Just because you have two hands to type and a mouth to speak, it doesn't mean you SHOULD speak or comment on things that you aren't knowledgeable on.

Back in in his playing days, Lenny was known as "nails" for his toughness. These days, I suspect he should be called "nuts" for his antics that have caused him such financial failures. His present day delusional state of mind really has him thinking that he should get his jet back. A Gulfstream jet goes for well over 10 million, if not double. I'd venture to guess he has paid a small fraction in payments, and stopped making payments many months ago. I get behind on my vehicle and I can rest assure it will be repossessed. Of course I'm of sound mind to realize this.

At the end of the day it is what the judge's order is so if he is correct then they have to give him the jet back...for now.
Regardless, he is criminal and an idiot...

As a high school coach I knew Lenny. He is a decent person and a fine athlete. Before folks start jumping on him they should trouble to get all the facts. If fully informed they might see him in a very different light. Jealousy is a bad motivator.
