'Conviction' Producers To Gloria: Come On Down!

10/15/2010 5:30 PM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

Gloria Allred was not ignored ... Producers of "Conviction" have invited G.A. -- along with the family of the murdered woman portrayed in the film -- to a private screening Friday night.

But TMZ has learned that Brow's children, Melrose and Charlie, will not attend the screening because they say the film will bring back "very painful memories of  their mother's murder." Instead Melrose's son and his father will be there with Allred.

Gloria held one of her famous news conferences earlier this week to express extreme displeasure over the fact that producers -- in particular Hilary Swank -- never consulted Katharina Brow's kids before shooting the movie. The film focuses on how the sister of the man convicted of murdering Brow in 1980 helped free him 18 years after the fact ... based on DNA evidence.

The private screening will take place tonight at 7 PM in Los Angeles. No word if producers are throwing in the popcorn.

Everybody is posting about Gloria Allred and missing the story here. These producers treated this family like crap. What would it have taken to be kind and to let them know this movie was being made and when it would come out. Honestly, get off the Gloria Allred train. I don't like her either but this family is more important. This movie and it's production staff were rude and thoughtless.

CBS did a story about the sister that dedicated her life to getting her brother out of prison, because it was the right thing to do. DNA doesn't lie. The movie isn't what people think.

Shame on Gloria and the family, perhaps the true killer may be found now because of this movie. RIP, Kenneth Waters.

Hopefully the true killer of Katharina Brow will be found because of Kenneth's story and the courage/determination of Betty Ann Waters with Barry Scheck's help.

Are you kidding me? What do you mean treated the family like crap. The family treated this guy like crap. They did they're part to convict him. WRONGLY. When did the family apologise or express their sorrow for this man having lost nearly two decades of his life serving time for the death of their mother when he didn't do a thing? You should stop and think for a mila-second about what it would be like to suddenly be snatched from your everyday life and thrown in a cage for nearly two decades for being at the wrong place at the wrong time, with no one on your side but your sister trying to get you out to no avail.

Let the family know when the movie was coming out? Are you kidding. How stupid is that? No. What this is really about is the family sees that their is a movie based on events that involve their mother, and they WANT A PIECE... That's exactly what this boils down to. "If they gonna make a movie about our mama, then we should get a cut. They ARE afterall using our mom's name and murder, We should get some bank too$$$!" That's all this is. And it's sick. And who did the family get to front their little tantrum for justice?? Gloria $how-me-some-compen$ation Alreid.
That family wasn't treated like crap, but By God they should be for this little stunt.

I still wanna know when the family showed this wrongly convicted man some sympathy for his doing time for their MOM's murder when he didn't do a thing.

Well, if these people had a legitimate complaint to make, it lost all its sting by using Gloria Allred to represent them.

This family didn't need to be consulted about anything regarding this movie. Where's this family's respect and compassion, they mention so often in this press conference, for the man, which this film is based? He was wrongly convicted of their mother's crime and cleared by DNA evidence after 18 years in jail. They should be thanking Hilary Swank for bringing attention for authorities to find their mother's real killer!

So the dirtbags want money from a movie made about the man who didn't kill their mother? Awesome, maybe they should be out looking for their mom's real killer instead of trying to extort money from a movie made about the fact their mother was killed by someone else other than the man wrongly convicted. See how that works?

Gloria, you cow, the movie is about the sister of the man who was WRONGLY convicted spent 18 years of her life fighting for his freedom. It has ZERO to do with the woman's murder much less her children! GET OVER IT.

That family needs to stop looking for a cash cow. If they want money they need to make their own movie.
