Glee Photo Shoot Draws Fire

'Borders on Pedophilia'

10/20/2010 12:05 PM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

The producers of "Glee" are taking some serious heat over a sexually charged photo shoot involving three cast members -- with one powerful parents group saying the pictorial "borders on pedophilia."

1019-glee-cover-ex-01

The Parents Television Council has released a statement thrashing producers for allowing Dianna Agron, Cory Monteith and Lea Michele to participate in a "hyper-sexualized" photo shoot for the November issue of GQ -- despite the fact that both actresses are 24 years old and Corey is 28.

The PTC declares, “It is disturbing that GQ, which is explicitly written for adult men, is sexualizing the actresses who play high school-aged characters on ‘Glee’ in this way. It borders on pedophilia."

The statement continues, "By authorizing this kind of near-pornographic display, the creators of the program have established their intentions on the show’s direction. And it isn’t good for families."

So we gotta ask ...

The show promotes positive things, like community involvement and environment. Since when are naughty photos (and poor ones at that)promoting something positive? Can't we turn a corner on that?

how can this border on perversion? they are all of age, they just act as high school students. i am disgusted that this has even become an issue. the brady bunch, partridge family, saved by the bell? is this a serious cause, or are people so bored with life that they will try to find controversy in everything. i like reading about celebrity news, and i don't want to be a hypocrite...but hasn't this gone too far?!

These girls have allowed themselves to be exploited. All you guys out there with daughters in high school take a long hard look, cause it could be your daughters next, showing up on someones i-phone, going viral on the web etc.
It doesn't matter the true age of these actresses, it is the age group they portray on TV, and it is the tweens and teens that watch it that are influenced. However, that said, teens and tweens aren't going to see these photos unless they come to websites like TMZ, or get hold of a GQ magazine, so it is up to parents to censor this.

Someone needs to explain the PTC the difference between real life and fiction on TV. Actors are real people and their characters on the show are not. What you see in the picture is the actors, not the characters... and that's not pedophilia at all.

Who are these morons? These three people are ACTORS, not characters. If while on their hiatus they are offered a role that isn't wholesome enough for this uptight group, are they supposed to turn it down? ACTORS, people, they're only actors. Part of being a parent is to teach your children what's real, what's not real and what YOU, as a family, believe is appropriate.

The magazine is GQ. That is what is disturbing. GQ is a men's magazine so of course the girls are gonna be in their little school girl outfits. If this were Glamour or Elle or something else we probably would not be discussing it. It's promoting a fantasy and what is scary is that the schoolgirl thing IS a fantasy. Children need to be protected. End of story. If you want to get mad..get mad with the editors of GQ for being in charge of this.

I think what's interesting about the whole photo shoot is Cory Monteith is fully covered in all his pictures. I mean he has at least two - three layers of clothes on. They must have used a majority of the clothes bugdet on the dude and there was nothing left in the budget for the ladies (lol).

Oh please, I mean these actresses could be 12 years old and screwing every man on the set and it still wouldn't meet the real definition of pedophilia.

But hey at least they would have a point claiming it "borders on pedophilia". But with the actors all being adults, not so much.

Go away you prudish idiots, nobody cares what you think. It's all in your own fantasies anyway, that's the only place this is pedophilia you dirty bastards.

And people want to talk about what Miley Cyrus is doing. This Glee Show sucks. It should be off the air if this is all they want to promote. The kid's in this show are acting like ho's already. They have let the pathetic show make their head's a little to big for them. THis big nosed dark haired girl is sickening. She SHOULD fix that elephant nose. None of them are talented just think they are. Yeah, what kind example is this low class show promoting. How to be a ho at a early age.

Perhaps these parents should go on myspace and see what kind of images the teens post.

People are clueless.

Pedophilia is a bad choice of words, but they're not saying the actors are actually kids. They're objecting to their portrayal of kids as objects of sexual desire. Is that so hard to understand? I know there'll be 200 more clueless posts about all the *actors* being in their 20s. People don't seem to understand the simple argument that what the magazine is providing is an image of kids who pretty much want to have sex with you. Not the actors, not their Glee characters, but the characters they're playing on the GQ cover.

I hope people understood that. I tried using small words.

It's really stupid to be calling something with people over 24-years-old "pedophilia." Even if they were really High School age it still wouldn't be. It can only be pedophilia if it involves pre-prepubescent CHILDREN.

The Parents Television Council needs to shut the f_ck up. If they don't like it, don't watch it.
