Glee Photo Shoot Draws Fire

'Borders on Pedophilia'

10/20/2010 12:05 PM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

The producers of "Glee" are taking some serious heat over a sexually charged photo shoot involving three cast members -- with one powerful parents group saying the pictorial "borders on pedophilia."

The Parents Television Council has released a statement thrashing producers for allowing Dianna Agron, Cory Monteith and Lea Michele to participate in a "hyper-sexualized" photo shoot for the November issue of GQ -- despite the fact that both actresses are 24 years old and Corey is 28.

The PTC declares, “It is disturbing that GQ, which is explicitly written for adult men, is sexualizing the actresses who play high school-aged characters on ‘Glee’ in this way. It borders on pedophilia."

The statement continues, "By authorizing this kind of near-pornographic display, the creators of the program have established their intentions on the show’s direction. And it isn’t good for families."

So we gotta ask ...

gross!

These photos sexualize high school children. Is that not obvious? Sexualizing children in any way or in any form with any type of medium is absolutely unacceptable. It does not matter the age of the character in the photo, they are depicting themselves as minors, as students, in a sexual and provocative way. This is wrong. When society decides that equating sex with kids in wrong and unacceptable maybe we will be able to do something about the epidemic of child molestation and exploitation that takes place in our country and around the world. Every decent adult, especially parents, should be offended and disappointed by these photos. The PTC should have choosen a word other than pedophilia to try to convey their point but their point is valid nonetheless.

These actors are over 21. I know they portraying high school students in the series, but PTC needs to relax. I can see their complaint has merit if one of the girls or the guy were under 18, but they all are over 21.

I'm a total Gleek, I love the show. And I'm not a parent, but for people that still want to believe this is 1945 and that teenagers don't really behave the way the characters do on the show....I hope your time machine is finished soon to take you back to a point in history that better suits you. And teenagers have been being teenagers long before Glee ever came along, don't blame a TV show for lack of good parenting. Is it a family show, no. Is it something I would let a young child (young being still in elementary school) watch, probably not. And its not pedophila when the people taking the pictures are adults. I think this parental group could find their efforts better used in keeping schools from being closed, teachers getting better salaries so they're not skating the poverty line, and educating young people on things like sex, diversity, acceptance, responsibility, and good decision making. And on a side note...those red heels Diana is wearing in some of the pictures are making her feet look HUGE! But over all, its a hot spread, the girls look beautiful, and I can't wait for the Rocky Horror Show Glee episode next week!

I don't care who they play in the show, all are well above legal age and don't even look underage. The television council is completely out of control and not addressing this matter correctly.

Its a TV SHOW.. is not real.... meaning the characters in the high school glee club are not real either. These ACTORS are ADULT human beings so they are entitled to pose naked if they want.. Teach your minor kids that TV shows are fictional or even better, dont let them watch the show. Period.

This parents group needs to go back to watching Miley Cyrus to be shocked, they probably only became parents by artificial insemination.

I doubt the MEN that read GQ know who the 3 people are on the cover and I highly doubt they watch Glee to even know these women play highschool girls.

Holy Crap....Those parents need to focus on their kids than acting like idiots. I though over 18 was considered adult.

Cheerleaders are allowed to dress like costume themselves like prostitutes on every football field in America, but this photo shoot is inappropriate? Where, exactly, is the line in the sand that they have allegedly crossed?

Did they really need that have that preppy doochy guy on the cover... putting the two glee chicks on the covers alone would have sold more magazines for GQ!!!

Pedophilia is defined as sexual gratification from contact with pre-pubescent children. I hope the PTC acknowledges that these actors have undergone puberty. Now the question is whether the PTC recognize the distinction(s): 1. are children all of the same sexual character until they magically 'pop' and come of age at 21 -- or 2. does depicting someone who's passed test (1) itself constitute undesirable behavior. Haven't the actors the right to control how they portray both their characters and their public personas? Seems a clear first amendment issue once (1) is granted.
