Charlie Sheen Hospitalized After Drinking Binge

10/26/2010 10:50 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

Charlie Sheen was hospitalized early this morning after a drinking binge that ended with Charlie allegedly trashing his NYC hotel room.

New York City police were called by security at The Plaza Hotel, who reported a disturbance in Charlie's suite.  When cops entered just after 2 AM, they found Charlie drunk and naked.  Chairs had been thrown around the room and a chandelier was damaged.

We're told an unidentified woman in the room told cops Charlie flew into such a rage that she locked herself in the bathroom and called security.  There's also a report out that Charlie accused the woman of stealing his wallet.

Police sources say Charlie went voluntarily and that Charlie was "intoxicated, irrational" and "emotionally disturbed." Law enforcement sources tell TMZ Charlie was "emotionally disturbed" and they gave him a choice -- go to the hospital or jail.  Charlie chose option 1.

Sources who have spent time with Charlie recently say he's been "a tortured soul for months" and his friends openly talked about how they feared for his life.  Another source very close to Charlie echoed the fear that Charlie's most recent downturn could end tragically.

Charlie's rep just put out a statement that the actor was hospitalized after suffering an allergic reaction to medication ... though the information conflicts with what TMZ has confirmed ... that drinking was a factor.

"Two and a Half Men" is on hiatus this week and Charlie isn't due back on the set until next Tuesday.  We're told producers have a jet ready in NYC to fly Charlie home today.

Sources connected with the actor tell us he'll fly into L.A. this evening and he'll go right home.  Sheen won't be staying at Promises in Malibu -- where he's stayed on and off since earlier this year.

People connected with the show tell us ... Charlie doesn't think he needs to go back to rehab, even though some of his friends and associates tell us the situation is pretty desperate.

Cops did not find any evidence of drug use in Charlie Sheen's NY hotel room early this morning ... this according to law enforcement sources.

Great Scott!

If They Were Pregnant...

(Which they AREN'T) they might look a little something like this!

What's happening is he doesn't want to believe he's an alcoholic, he doesn't want to stop drinking. He's gotten older and he can't tolerate it like when he was younger. When he has enough pain physically and mentally maybe he will ask for help and want to leave his hell.

Charlie Sheen is a great actor, and probably a good person too. God willing, he will pray and find his way forward through the many temptations and challenges to living today. Unfortunatley Two and Half Men has lost a bit of its edge lately, not due to Charlie, more so to the lower quality writing, as demonstrated through the lack of respect for the basic characters.

Our Hollywood stars of today...just a bunch of drug addicts and drunks. None of them have any talent without their crutch.

I dont watch two and a half men anymore. The show is getting to racy and sends a bad message to young men. Charlie Sheen apparently is worse in real life than his role on this show. The little boy who plays jake is exposed to everything and hopefully he has parents to steer him on the right track. Charlie Sheen evidently hates women because he sure knows how to use and abuse them. I feel sorry only for his children who will one day see the way he acted and hopefully some man will not treat his daughters the way he treats women.

Problem with Charlie is: the private jet waiting and a hot lady in his bedroom when he gets back to Hollywood.
Charlie is a full blown drunk/druggie that needs to walk back to Hollywood - directly into rehab for three months or just commit to AA for 50 YEARS. Dont get his appeal either...moderate actor?

Does anyone see a connection between Charlie's support of the 9/11 truth movement and the *******s who came into his life and his general decline? Ever heard of Gang Stalking COINTELPRO?

Charlie, you need to get into AA, anger management and do your kids proud. You have a serious problem and nothing will change until you do. You have the money and the means, get help while your still young enough to live out many more years happy and healthy and your children can be proud of you. It is all in your hands, not the women you divorice or the children they want to keep safe. Is the other way working for you, buck up and grow up, take a look at your self and see what you have become.

I was watching two and a half men last night and he appeared intoxicated. It was very disturbing. His slip is hanging and he needs to get help fast. A true friend would tell him so. Where are they? (his friends)

Charlie Sheen is a useless shell of a man.
He prefers to spend time with hookers than
his kids. Disgusting Pig!
He plays a Disgusting Pig on 2 and 1/2 Men, they
call that acting??????? That's what he is!
I don't enable people who are out of control.
He should have been fired after he tried to choke
his wife! I think he is on probation, let's hope
the judge throws him in jail.
Wake up people! Stop watching the show.......

Listen, like the previous posters I am disappointed by Charlie Sheens actions. Having his show being cancelled serves no useful purpose. I think the show should go into a brief hiatus. Then after that time, return to production. Regarding the comments pertaining to circus acts and kinky sex, cmon, who that has his money would not indulge in that fantasy.

He's a mess. I find it interesting that while Mel Gibson gets viliified by the media for his drunken rants, Charlie boy gets a pass over and over again. Mel hits women (allegedly), so does Charlie. Both have severe issues with alcohol. Yet, our boy here keeps his job and garners sympathy. Let me guess. Charlie and his dad are darlings of the liberal press. I think he would actually have to kill somebody before they turn on him. And at the rate he's going, he probably will.

Charlie is good at heart I think, just think he needs help,Its a shame to see someone go down the tube when they have alot going for them. They have too many drugs in Hollywood.

This guy is SUCH a loser! Medication, my azz! Spoiled brat that doesn't deserve what he was given.

I wish they'd cancel that show. He is no longer funny. The whole show is nothing more than sexual in nature..every single week!
