'Sound of Music' Actor: They Left Me Out Of Reunion

10/30/2010 10:00 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

Daniel Truhitte -- who played the young Nazi soldier Rolfe in "The Sound of Music" -- is screaming from the hilltops ... devastated he wasn't invited to the "Music" reunion special on "Oprah."

Daniel's lederhosen are in a wad over the "Oprah" special that aired on Thursday -- which was billed as the first time in 45 years that the "entire cast" has been in the same place. O featured all eight members of the Von Trapp family, plus Julie Andrews.

But Daniel -- who played the love interest of Liesl Von Trapp and famously sang "Sixteen Going on Seventeen" -- tells TMZ he doesn't understand why he was left out, saying "I was the male juvenile lead, a main part of the story ... it's beyond me."

Daniel groused, "How can you not include Rolfe?"

A rep for the show tells TMZ, "Our show was a reunion of the von Trapp 'family.' Mr. Truhitte's character was not part of that group."

You're right, Oprah show interviewing the cast of "Sound of Music" was boring. Well-- at least the parts that I've seen. I got distracted and missed everything right after the deaf lady started signing/talking about the movie. LOL

I agree that the show was billed as a reunion of the entire cast and the appearance of Rolf would have meant a lot to fans of the movie. He is the only original cast member who is still performing in concert and a chance for the fans to hear his incredible voice would have added greatly to the show.

For those interested in learning more about the man who played the role of Rolf in the Sound of Music movie you can visit his website at

I would have liked to have seen Rolf there, but the actors who played the Von Trapp children got such a small amount of air time that he probably wouldn't have been able to say much anyway. It was rather boring -- I've heard Julie Andrew's stories tons of times before. It was nice hearing from Christopher Plummer though.

I don't blame him for being upset. They should have invited him!As for the nuns and officers, they are probably all dead or in nursing homes.

That's very true. He may have a legitimate complaint, in fact all the actors/actresses that are still alive in the sound of music movie may have one. Actually, I think Daniel Truhitte is being a big baby and needs to grow up. He wasn't the main character and only had four small scenes. (delivering telegram-singing 16 going on 17 duet, pebble thrown at the window and the last scene during the Von Trapp's escape.)

I saw the movie two Easters ago on TV, love it and went out and brought the DVD a little over a year ago and had it ever since. :) 5 stars musical movie!

For those of you talking about the nuns and Max, remember how long ago this movie was made. Many have probably passed away.

Didn't Oprah learn anything when Will aka Fresh Prince was excluded from the Banks family's appearance on her show! Get it together woman! lol

@14--So many silly statements, where to start...
I'm nowhere near 65 and I remember this movie fondly, as do the many people who bought it on tape then DVD for their children. If you had no interest in the movie or the cast, then why bother watching at all? Especially when your disdain for seniors is so evident. Christopher Plummer has continued to have a lucrative career, and is in The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, filming now. Regarding her 2002 London concert, Andrews had warned before the concert that her voice had never recovered fully from a botched operation on her vocal chords in 1997. Old news. Instead of watching Oprah, you really should have taken a nap...sounds as if you needed one.
And one more thing-turn off your caps.

#15, they're dead, you nitwit.

Eleanor Parker is still alive but she never talks about this film. I suspect she resents that this minor role late in her career has overshadowed everything she did as a star.

I remember him well...oh that was Christopher Plummer.

But Rolffe dumped Liesl and blew the whistle on the Von Trapp family! Of course they didn't invite him!
