Bret 'The Hitman' Hart -- Zie Germans Stole My Jacket!

11/13/2010 5:30 AM PST BY TMZ STAFF

Wrestling legend Bret Hart claims he was robbed blind in Deutschland Thursday -- insisting his trademark shades and jacket vanished while he was in the ring ... and the WWE suspects German foul play.

1112_bret-hit-exd
Sources connected to the wrestler tell TMZ ... Hart removed his classic get-up before a match in Nuremberg -- standard wrestling procedure -- but when he got back to the locker room after the fight, his stuff hadn't been returned ... and no one knows where it went.

So far, no police report has been filed -- but a rep for the WWE confirms that the jacket/glasses combo did go missing ... and they're convinced it wasn't an inside job.

We're told both WWE and the Nuremberg arena are desperately trying to track down the perp ... who may or may not vaguely resemble the Fonz.

Maybe it's a hint, Bret.

The best before date on the rasslin' gig has passed long ago. Now, you're just a caricature of the Hitman.

Time to hang up the jacket and glasses?

Clearly with Bret its just a case of Vince McMahon and the WWE wanting to cash in on a legend like Bret. Which they did with the dvd, shirt and other merch they've been selling. And Bret is smart enough to stick around and take the cash.

LMFAO...I guess Vince is too damn cheap to hire proper security staff. I feel bad for Bret, this isn't the first time this happened. Thanks to WCW he lost 6 jackets and 6 pink and black outfits. Too bad too, He really is a nice guy.

Does anyone know why Bret went back to work for Vince McMahan? There was a do***entary called Wresteling with Shadows that shows Vince as a terrible man who treated Brett so badly that at one point, Bret took a swing at him back stage. Brett also wrote pretty horrible things about the WWE in a book. How is he working for them again?

Wow. Entirely clueless. When a child actor gets older, they play teens. Then adults. Wrestling is a staged drama that has roles for all ages, especially someone from past generations who knows how to speak without reading off a card. There's no money in Bret besides nostalgia - he's just there to help the kiddies look good and help them learn.

Three reasons why he's working for Vince now:
1) He's grown out of his petulant phase and forgave Vince more than a decade ago. 2) It's his family business - he was raised to be in it and he enjoys it. 3) $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

I think you're right on that last point, Brian. I wonder, though, if he still enjoys it or does he just not know any other way to support his family? Roddy Piper has given interviews saying that he's too old to wrestle and he hates having to still do his character but that he has bills to pay.

Bobbie - Bret's living outside of wrestling is far better than most. He's done ample voiceover work and stage work, and written books other than the wrestling ones. He's definitely not working because he absolutely needs to but nostalgia has a shelf life, and if he waited much longer the paydays wouldn't be nearly as big. There's also the side of it that has him doing the mic work for young "family" members and making sure that they get their wrestling "foundations" built solidly to make them a living for the rest of their lives.
