Lindsay Lohan -- I Wasn't Fired, I Quit!

11/20/2010 5:35 PM PST BY TMZ STAFF

Lindsay Lohan made the choice to leave her latest film project, not the other way around ... sources close to LiLo tell TMZ.

It's been reported today that Lindsay was fired from the planned Linda Lovelace biopic "Inferno." But sources who have spoken to Lindsay within the last hour tell us Lindsay decided to drop out from the film so that she could focus more on her recovery.

We're told Lindsay felt the project no longer felt right -- but that she and the director, Matthew Wilder, remain on good terms and hope to work together in the future.

UPDATE: A rep for Lindsay adds that Lindsay is "concentrating on her recovery" and calls the decision to leave the film "mutual."

Lindsay did quit this movie. Last Saturday on her pass from Betty Ford, she declined to meet the director and the rumors started then that she had lost interest, in fact, she also declined to sign the contract.

Good decision Lindsay

Great decision Lindsay

Everyone saying that she didn't quit and was fired well she hadn't even signed the final contract for the movie.
It was 100% her decision not to do this movie.

Peter Sc

I guess that she maybe would not be an actress in the future.

Her parents pushed her into the business and got her on medication so she could bare the burden of turning her insides out to become a one with the parts she has played.

It is no shame if she chooses to work in another field in the future.

As for the film. It could have her comeback movie - big time. I cannot see another actress picking it up.

HAH!!! She got fired. Admit it, Liloser. This movie is a straight to DVD anyway regardless of this loser playing the main role.

They need to do a remake of Jean Harlows "Hold your Man" starring Lindsay. It would be super hilarious!

@ Post 30.

Hahahahaha I wish I was Lindsay, or at least close to her, I would tell her what a great decision she made by quitting this trashy movie and congratulate her on her progress in rehab. Me Dina? nah, I'm way too young!

It seems Lisa YOU spend a lot of time on TMZ spreading your sad hate, peace sweetie.
