However, if you are not a die-hard sports fan, you're not going to get it. It's a running joke. So many people praise god in sports when they succeed, so it's always been a running debate for many years as to why none of these althetes who praise God for their successes ever blame god for their failures. It's one of those dreadful sports cliche deals that always makes you roll your eyes.

This is a joke. I'm not sure anyone who works for TMZ even watches sports. Nor most of the forum users who frequent TMZ. Not surprisingly, it's a joke that went completely over the heads of most people.
