Demi Lovato's Attack Victim

The Bruising Photos

12/4/2010 3:30 PM PST BY TMZ STAFF

Demi Lovato left one hell of a mark when she punched a female backup dancer in the face on a private jet back in October ... and TMZ has obtained photos of the eye-swelling damage.

1203-the-damage-launch-tmz-ex-2-credit
These photos were taken days after Demi socked Alex Welch in the face -- leaving visible bruises on her left eye and cheek.

Sources close to Welch tell us ... the dancer was simply minding her own business on a private jet leaving Bogota, Colombia ... when Demi "walked up to Alex and with a closed fist, struck her on the left side of her face."

We're told Alex was knocked clean out of her seat -- and had to receive emergency medical attention.

Lovato was immediately removed from the plane and eventually returned home -- and then checked herself into a treatment center shortly after.

Alex -- who completed the remaining dates on the Jonas Brothers tour -- has now lawyered up with high powered Beverly Hills attorney Donald Karpel and we're told she's "considering her legal options."

These comments are making me giggle :). You peeps are crazy sometimes! I love it <3. By reading them I see #1 waaaaay too many people condone violence if it's from someone they look up to. #2 waaay too many adults look up to some tween star and take her plight too seriously. I am wondering... I never saw in an article that these two were friends before this like some of you say but, if they were, I can only hope my young uns have good enough friends that when they are spiraling out of control, clubbing at 18, doing drugs, drinking...there friends will tell someone to get them some help. Hopefully me.
Shame on Demi. Shame on anyone who condones this kind of thing. Good for her for listening to the people who told her to enter rehab and save her image. That is after all the Hollywood way! She should have some consequenses for her actions and if it's having to pay someone off, she deserves at least to have that. Lindsay Lohan has had NO consequenses her whole life and look where it has gotten her. These spoiled brat starlets need to be shown right from wrong. Chief or whatever name you are this week, I don't think anyone said she was going to jail. everyone knows thats not happening. The girl didn't press charges. Like someone said..pressing charges doesn't make her any money. She may be an opprutunist (sp?) but the fact is Demi shouldn't have put herself in the situation for that to happen. She should have maintained self control and not acted like a total tool. For all of you saying teen girls fight all the time.. this wasn't a fight both girls were involved in. It was a one sided fight where one girl got hit by the other. Only one girl was in this fight. Words are words but when you strike someone like white trash, you deserve what you get in return. Demi will come out fine and have the mediocore career she was meant to have until she's out of work when she loses her teen fans in later years because face it, the girl can't sing. This won't affect her. But hopefully she will learn from it and quit being an awful bully. People make mistakes..yes. People deserve second chances..yes. But, people need to be held accountable for their actions in some way. Here in the real world when we screw up, we don't get to hide behind "rehab" we pay for our mistakes and learn from them. Hopefully this little girl will, too.

lol

everyone looks at there status before they even look at the situation.

so they are girls who are teens, so they have money, and does it matter if the person is young or old? nope

both are in the wrong tho.

demi running to rehab is just a cover. probably to stay away from questioning. if she would of skipped this one little step and stood and defended/explained her actions this wouldnt be here today >_>

and again i say if alex really wanted a good case she should of did everything she could at the time of the incident. not keep on with the tour(life)THEN find a time convenient for her to "serve justice".

so yea, if demi really did just walks up and slugged the hell out of her then yea, sue her.

since theres no demi side and for the people who say we "condone" this violence may be looking at it wrong.

being the victim and a starter of multiple fights know that people just dont "get" punched. situations build up before it even leads to verbal or physical exchanges. and if demi is that type of person she "portrays" to be, it takes ALOT, and i really mean ALOT of provoking and button pushing to even get those types mad, non the less to even throw a punch is a true rarity.

and im assuming there not friends, even if they were, friends just dont sue friends. not over something this small.

so unless alex side is 100% for a fact with some very very hard evidence(no he said/saw she said/saw) this is a just a smear 'scam'paign.

"Friends don't just sue friends"..well, do friends punch each other in the face? lol. Really? I must have crappy friends then. They have never socked me in the face once..those jerks :). It's not a smear campaign. She punched her. No one is saying she didn't. No one is smearing her name by saying she did something she didn't do. She did it. When you assault someone you pay the consequences. That's life. In the real world it's through the police and done the right way. In "pay everyone to shut up Hollywood' it's done a different way. It's not a smear campaign when someone did what they were accused of doing and are being held responsible for it. It's life. and being a grown up.

There is a difference between hitting some random girl and two girls who are good friends getting in an altercation. It happens and the best of us have gone through it. To sue someone who you call a friend is absurd. VIolence is never the answer but come on, Demi is your friend! I would never sue my friend for hitting me! FRIEND.But then again, if she had millions, maybe I would. This is ridiculous. Im a mature adult and I think that Demi made a mistake and she knows it, and is trying to make it right. What this shorty girl is doing is not right; you don't sure your friend!

Secondly, if this was two guys who got into this scrum, it would be laughed off by the media and everyone else. "oh boys will be boys". Again a lovely double standard comes into play!

We all make mistakes. But the biggest mistake being made is turning your back on a friend who clearly was in distress. I do hope Demi owns up to her mistake and I'm sure she will! But then it's time to move on. No need for lawsuits and drawing further attention to the issue. Be a FRIEND, talk it out!

My thoughts are and remain with Demi! She will come through this stronger and better!!

Well aside from your name calling and insults towards someone you don't even know, or even know the whole story from. I am inclined to agree. I think that she should be held accountable and she should learn from her mistakes. It's what we call “tough love”. I just think though that she got lost in this fast track of life and with her issues, she snapped. Also I do think she targeted Alex for a reason. Nobody punches a particular person out of the blue. She had a reason on WHY that was her target. Maybe not a good reason but a reason none the less. Which I am interested in knowing what it is. I will agree with Chief on one thing. There are varying degrees of wrong. And one punch where the dancer got a minor bruise is not the same degree as wailing on someone until they are unrecognizable.
And it doesn't condone her actions but I think it's just as important to fix your issues to prevent it from happening again. Which is why I think she went to rehab. Because she's still gonna have to deal with all of this when she gets back. And you are right. Demi should have used some self control and not put her in that situation. None the less what's done is done. And in the end I agree that Alex is in the right to pursue legal actions if she chooses to. Hopefully this will teach Demi a lesson and she will learn from her mistake.
Like I said I still support her decision to get well and I still support her career and I will continue to cheer her on. But she was wrong and she should be responsible and pay Alex some restitution for her troubles.
That doesn't mean I think Alex should get an unreasonably large amount. Wrong is still wrong, even varying degrees.

Having said this, I don't think this ONE action should define who she is. Our entire lives are made up of many different actions. Some good, some bad. One bad action doesn't mean you are a bad person.

first off
Scam–noun
1.a confidence game or other fraudulent scheme, esp. for making a quick profit; swindle.

"do friends punch each other in the face? lol. Really? I must have crappy friends then. They have never socked me in the face once..those jerks :)"

>_>. regardless if they "punched you in the face or not" if you ran over your "friend's dog" and the first thing that comes to their mind is suing, they are no friends of yours. plain and simple.

"It's not a smear campaign. She punched her. No one is saying she didn't. No one is smearing her name by saying she did something she didn't do. She did it. When you assault someone you pay the consequences. That's life."

your right, im positive not one person thought that demi didnt hit her. and....

"In the real world it's through the police and done the right way. In "pay everyone to shut up Hollywood' it's done a different way. It's not a smear campaign when someone did what they were accused of doing and are being held responsible for it. It's life. and being a grown up."

first, hollywood is no different from me and you when it involve the police. you have a serious missunderstanding of the law if you think "when your famous you get away with it" by paying money...

also you completely missed the 'scam'paign joke. shes running around making it seem liked demi completely F**k'd her up. its only a punch. its a scam to ruin the face of demi's character. expecially when demi character stands up against "bulling" and "violence".

if it was really that serious, again i say, alex would of called the police THEN and THERE. not keep on living then come back to it.

"We all make mistakes. But the biggest mistake being made is turning your back on a friend who clearly was in distress"

fully agree, instead of helping her "friend" she sues her claiming she had "problems".

FYI, suing is a serious thing i really hate when taking out of proportions. the grown up thing to do is just walk it off.

Wow. People really will sue over anything. Good to know that Demi's got a great right hook! I'm on team Demi anyway.

If she really needed "medical attention" with this tiny black eye then she should get punched again.

She shouldn't have taken it out on this dancer. It was wrong of her and she should take responsibility for this minor offense. But I read somewhere that the dancer was battered and bruised. Alex welch is hardly battered. Bruise maybe but nothing that serious that would cause any sort of long term damage. At least none that we know of.

Even though I feel Demi was wrong, and she should make it up to this girl and be held accountable, I hate it when people try to make their injuries seem worse than they actually are. I agree with the person that said this wasn't that traumatic. If she was dancing, and doing all her energetic moves as well as talking about how much fun she had, this wasn't THAT traumatizing.

Demi should be held accountable for her actions and pay this dancer a proper and reasonable restitution. Because extortion(is that the right word to use) would be wrong on her end assuming that this was what she was doing. I don't think anyone can disagree with that.

I'm sure this bitch is lying, Demi should have their motives, and this girl with ridiculous hair does not realize that Demi was sick, I know very well what this girl wants, she wants everyone to think she is a very nice person and Demi is a crazy, this is called envy

Wow...that is ridiculous...the reason she was punched was because she was antagonizing Demi. She shouldn't have needed "medical attention". Wow.

"lol people", please. Seriously do not discredit yourself by trying to say some BS like you don't get treated differently when you are famous. BE FOR REAL. I know someone with NO prior convictions of anything that was arrested for DUI and they were at a bar and it revoked their probation. He has been in jail for a year now and still has a month left..in the same state as Lindsay Lohan. How long has she been in jail again for failing two piss tests and revoking her probation?? Get serious.
Everyone on this board and every where in the world knows celebrities are treated differently. Common Knowledge. It doesn't matter who you hit, why you hit, where you hit or how hard you hit. IT IS NOT ACCEPTABLE TO HIT UNLESS YOU ARE PROTECTING YOURSELF. None of you can justify it. it's wrong. Find a church if you can;t understand the difference between right and wrong. Since you weren't taught it. Ugh.. I am outta here. Grown ups who worship an 18 year old and cheer on a trailer park trash attitude make me sad for America. Lots of luck :). Please do better with your children. We don't need more losers in the world. Goodness

You don't need a church to teach you right from wrong. Sorry but the second you bring religion into this, you now sound like an invalid.

“Please do better with your children. We don't need more losers in the world. Goodness”

So you talk about second chances yet you call Demi a loser now eh? Contraidiction...

“It doesn't matter who you hit, why you hit, where you hit or how hard you hit. IT IS NOT ACCEPTABLE TO HIT UNLESS YOU ARE PROTECTING YOURSELF. None of you can justify it. it's wrong.”
Yes it is wrong. But none the less there are still varying degrees of right and wrong. Just like there are varying degrees of violence. A punch to the face is not the same as beating someone to a bloody pulp. One punch does NOT make this similar to Chris Brown and Rihanna's incident. \ And the outcome and the traumatic effect should come into play of the severity of said situation. Which in this case is minimal. It's still wrong and Demi should be held responsible for her actions and pay restitutions. We've already established that. However restitutions she gives should be within reason. Alex didn't suffer any traumatic effect since she was still on the tour and still had FUN on the tour and her damages to her body were nothing more than minor bruising around the eye area. That was the extent of her damages. So it should be within that.

The extent of the “medical emergency” for a black eye is a bag of ice.
