'SNL's' Opening Skit -- Live From New York ... It's TMZ

12/5/2010 12:00 PM PST BY TMZ STAFF

It's not like TMZ has revealed the secrets of war and peace, but "Saturday Night Live" found a nexus between WikiLeaks and our little shop.

Come to think of it, there is a connection with what "SNL" did with Hillary Clinton and Mel Gibson's new movie ....

they say you aren't anyone until SNL spoofs you.. they left out harvey :-| and when the hell did Mike get to be gay, I bet his wife would be suprised to hear that.

The caliber of writing on SNL has declined considerably since head writer Tina Fey departed. I still tune in to the show out of habit, but in ninety minutes' worth of sketches, I'm lucky if I can manage a smile. As far as the TMZ bit is concerned, it was a cute nod to the show, at least if you're a TMZ fan.

I agree that Harvey has a gold mine on his hands with the "morning meeting" format, along with showcasing a range of attractive, semi-educated college kids hawking celeb stories.

And then there's Gary...

Parodies are always SNL's strong point, specially when it is not overdone. This TMZ parody is great! Except for the captions, TMZ's are much bolder and more nonsensical. the camers should have been more jittery. And where is the plexiglass writing board?

Ah, to be Parodied bu SNL! TMZ has truly made the big time. Of course, with Robert Di Niro hosting again, we should all have known it would be a funny night, and it was truly hysterical from start to finish! And it was indeed just that.Note that he played the Afghan President, but he did many other skits that were note worthy. The Produce show skit where he was trying to put on his produce program on TV only to find that all the produce his son had picked for the show was rotten or rotting. Of course they drug it out into the program. And of course one of the mainstay skits, What's Up With That, where he Di Diro, Robing Williams, and of course Lindsay Buckingham (played by Bill Hader). All three are ignored by Keenan Thompson (as all of his guests are), And through this skit Di Niro was getting pissed about being ignored and played it off well. The only thing that was missing from that skit would be Joe Pechi showing up and he and Di Niro beat the crap out of Thompson's character. All in all, SNL really does have a good crew this season. The skits and writing has been pretty good. I still really miss Darryl Hammond and Tina Fey as regulars though. I mean, at LEAST give Darryl a hosting of his own!

It was very funny...but my only complaint being they missed HUGE in one area. No women. Women are TMZs secret ingredient for success.

Awwwww TMZ that was funny. You guys rock. Tell the folks at SNL next time they want to parody your show to rep the women on TMZ also.

TMZ Commenters,

why the pot shots at Nina & Gary? Very very very tacky.

I wonder if they're going to show past clips of politicians they've had on TMZ to prove that they don't JUST cover celebs, but I thought they did a pretty good job on SNL in a mostly unfunny season last Sat...

I'm a stalwart fan of the not-quite-ready-for-primetime players in the good 'ole days of SNL - that being said, as a big fan of TMZ, I'm happy I caught the parody last night - they did a good job, but what's up with them not having a "Harvey" character?
