Mel Gibson's Church -- Shutting Down Mass Services

12/9/2010 2:20 PM PST BY TMZ STAFF

Mel Gibson's mega church is putting the brakes on all congregational services because of a picture that was taken on church grounds this weekend and then passed on to TMZ.

Sources connected with the church tell us ... Gibson was "extremely concerned about the invasion of privacy." One source adds, "He is not just concerned that photos of his daughter were taken at the church, he is concerned for the privacy of his parishioners."

Members of the Holy Family Chapel in Agoura, CA received an email notice from church honchos yesterday which read, "There will be no Masses here at Holy Family Chapel until further notice."

Our sources tell us, however, that limited services will continue to be provided. In fact, a service was conducted yesterday -- the Holy Day of Obligation  -- for long term parishioners.

And you're being nice. I would post a warning about. DO NOT play around animals, the dog will howl and the cat will look at you with disgust. DO NOT listen to while driving, could cause unnecessary road rage.

You know something to a least warn the listener that their are doing so at their own risk and mental health.

@Sam

Here it is so far:

I should begin by saying that one of the few note-worthy qualities of this bewildering “Beautiful Heartache” CD are the compelling visual effects and imagery Mr. Gibson created and produced; unfortunately, Ms. Grigorieva’s presence comes across as overly wooden and self-conscious.

It appears Grigorieva likes to combine the story-poem with classical, pop and strong European music influences. Presumably, her ambition here was to create a somewhat dark, soulful yet ambiguous motif that is movingly sultry and unique. She succeeded with the darkness; however, her music is ineptly dissonant, unsympathetic, and rather obnoxious.

The immediate problem is her singing, which is mediocre at best, and her overconfident ‘fortissimo’ that causes the listener to wince. There are mistakes in her piano performances as well; inexcusable for music that is not played live and does not have a high degree of difficulty. Her repetitive use of certain minor chord combinations are monotonous and uninspired. Some of the phrasing, accompanying instrumentation and progressions are clumsy and awkwardly competitive. Why would any composer/performer strive to create a level of whining dissonance that repels the listener? Clearly, this was not her intent.

When you combine all of these elements and more, it’s an unqualified miss. To be fair, Ms. Grigorieva deserves some recognition for her efforts. However, I now understand why music critics feel this CD may find a small fan base with the musically challenged. If you’re going to do something different, do it well. Whether it is classical, jazz, rock, metal, techno, country opera, or other musical genre, good music should be compelling and invite the listener in – not push them away. Grigorieva would do well to adhere to writing in the future, and let the truly talented and experienced performance artists take it from there.

Nothing on the local news that just ended. But again, they are rarely mentioned. I think the media feel foolish for jumping to conclusions in the beginning and now just don't talk about it. Our weather was a real big topic for it is 60 and drizzling outside and have heavier rain to come, they make such a bfd over it, pretty funny actually. Well, I hope Harvey breaks his silence on "live".

Thanks for keeping us posted. You're probably about the local media feeling foolish about jumping on the bandwagon early on before knowing the facts.

Lol. Yes, I went back and forth the miss versus mess a few times. I wanted to be tougher, and thought of doing a satire, but decided to keep it within the frame of music. In the music world, that review is as bad as it gets.

Thanks everyone for your comments! :-)
