Michael Moore Posts Bail for WikiLeaks Honcho

12/14/2010 2:19 PM PST BY TMZ STAFF

Michael Moore has anted up $20,000 to help post bail for WikiLeaks co-founder Julian Assange.

Michael Moore WikiLeaks Julian Assange

Moore just blogged, he will do anything he can to keep WikiLeaks "alive and thriving as it continues its work to expose the crimes that were concocted in secret and carried out in our name and with our tax dollars."

Moore takes note of Rep. Peter King, who called WikiLeaks a "terrorist organization."

Moore fired back, "And indeed they are! They exist to terrorize the liars and warmongers who have brought ruin to our nation and to others.

Perhaps the next war won't be so easy because the tables have been turned -- and now it's Big Brother who's being watched ... by us!"

It looks like Assange will get out on $310,000 bail.

UPDATE: Swedish prosecutors are challenging Julian's bail ... so he'll remain in custody for the time being.

"This man has gone after the corporations and their GREED, he has do***ented just how much of a screw job the auto workers have gotten from their CEO's. He has shown ON FILM how badly the state of this country and the politicans are."

Michael Moore is one of the biggest hypocrites!
-he profits greatly from his fake-u-mentaries (Seriously, Columbine HS tragedy was because occasionally at midnight missiles are transported from a factory. I grew up by a major Air Force Base and have never thought of killing people)
-his children are escorted to and from posh private schools by bodyguards...reported to have carried guns
-is bailing out Asange with little to no respect for the women he (may have) violated

ALL power is corrupted. EVERY Gov't has corruption. As an American I see the flaws and what we need to fix. We can not stay polarized to the left or right and get anywhere. However, it's is so irritating that so many people on here want to trash the US. Hey jack-holes this is a website dedicated to the lives of celebrities and what happens within the Thirty Mile Zone of LA. If you don't like the US don't waste your time reading about our lives and our celebrities!!

Peace & love.

I'm confused by your post Realist.

Are you saying Michael Moore should do his work for free? He expressed his views on the Columbine tragedy per his first amendment rights.

Corruption IS in every government to a degree. As a fellow American, I appreciate ANYONE who exposes lies, theft or corruption at any level of government.

We vote for people to represent us, not steal from us or sell us down the river. We have a right to know if this is occurring.

I love how 90% of the posters here are all posting about what they hear on the "news". Julian Assange as NOT arrested for rape first off you morons, he was arrested for "surprise sex" which basically means the girls CONSENTED to have sex with him WITH a condom, but he failed to comply. NOT RAPE! Goes to show you put time and effort into your research.

To date not ONE example of a wiki-leaked do***ent jepardizing the safety of US citizens or otherwise, can be produced. Moreover, Julian Assange has sexual assault ALLEGATIONS leveled at him - he has NOT BEEN CONVICTED.

So, unless you don't believe in due process and the idea of "innocent until proven guilty" - then labeling Assange a rapist, etc, should not happen.

Also, I'm proud to be from the same country as Assange - and would think that citizens of the supposed "land of the free", would defend the ideals of wiki-leaks and it's founder. We gave you Rupert Murdoch (sorry 'bout that) who destroyed your media - but thankfully the fourth estate has a new home on the internets. There is no democracy without transparency and open debate. You should all be thanking Assange for helping to restore what's been erroded by the profit-driven news outlets.

9/11 was inside job and he is being set up. I am sick of the lies and cover up and truth is much more important than nationalism of our country.

YAY MOORE! we all need to work together. if michael moore is in support of wikileaks - that's what matters. he supports free speech. how can posting bail for him be considered s***baggish!?

a patriot means standing up for the constitution. seeing/admitting that the constitution is being abolished daily by our government.

Time and justice will tell if Julian Assange is guilty of rape.
Regardless of the outcome ,for the sake of humanity I wish long life to Wikileaks.
The US has started two wars on nothing but lies. Hundreds of thousands have been butchered for no reason. Special interest groups and their influence on the Bush administration need to be exposed. The same groups are now working to again use the credit card and have another war with Iran.
The country is going to hell and yet so many don't want the truth to come out.

Michael Moore is free to say what he wants and be as rich as he wants, that was not my point. Someone else had said he exposed the greed of CEO's. Personally, I think it's a little hypocritical to say CEO's can not make a lot of money, but I can under the name of (edited) justice. I use to be a big fan of Michael Moore, but the more I started to learn about him (not from Faux News, but articles and publications) the more I realized he was as disconnected from the people he "speaks for" as the CEO's and others he tries to expose.

Many people from his do***entaries have said they were asked to set up scenes (ie the bank he got a gun from for opening an account) and do things not exactly to policy. GM claims they repeatedly agreed to talk with Moore. Whose is telling a lie and who is telling the truth is hard to say. Both sides stand to profit from the other being wrong. I just think the only difference between Moore and Ali G/Bruno/Borat is the later doesn't try to hide the fact he wants to make people look like idiots for profit. That is way I exercise my rights to not watch their movies and not support them. Michael Moore is not more entitled to his opinion than I am....I just don't get to millions doing it.

I agree fraud in the Gov't should be exposed. But who gets to decide what is fraud and lies and what is necessary. There is not as much black and white as we would like to think....it's more like different shades of gray.
