Michael Moore Posts Bail for WikiLeaks Honcho

12/14/2010 2:19 PM PST BY TMZ STAFF

Michael Moore has anted up $20,000 to help post bail for WikiLeaks co-founder Julian Assange.

Michael Moore WikiLeaks Julian Assange

Moore just blogged, he will do anything he can to keep WikiLeaks "alive and thriving as it continues its work to expose the crimes that were concocted in secret and carried out in our name and with our tax dollars."

Moore takes note of Rep. Peter King, who called WikiLeaks a "terrorist organization."

Moore fired back, "And indeed they are! They exist to terrorize the liars and warmongers who have brought ruin to our nation and to others.

Perhaps the next war won't be so easy because the tables have been turned -- and now it's Big Brother who's being watched ... by us!"

It looks like Assange will get out on $310,000 bail.

UPDATE: Swedish prosecutors are challenging Julian's bail ... so he'll remain in custody for the time being.

Unfotunately TY the better portion of information being handed out to the public had nothing to with lies. The better portion was observations of foreign leaders and delegates. This information is used to predict behavior and allows us to communicate with these people better by playing to their strengths and weaknesses. There is a good reason this was classified information. You seem to have forgotten that some of what he leaked will also put American information specialists at risk and ruin counter spies we have in place. Of course you wouldn't understand that because you're too focused on hating the United States.

i fully support wikileaks & their cause but i do not condone sexual assault. that is what he was in jail for. he should have stayed there & answered for his alleged crimes. ah, it looks like he will.

Wow, maybe it's time you all stopped listening to Fake News Network. Everything that WikiLeaks has released is not actually anything shocking. It's all stuff most people with a brain and clue suspected and/or knew anyway. Why weren't you all so appalled when Cheney released the name of the CIA agent???? THAT was treason. WikiLeaks has merely released memos, emails, etc. Rumsfeld is doing the same thing in his new autobiography - shall we arrest him too? Well, yes, but that should have been done years ago for warcrimes. And ask yourselves this - why is our gov't the ONLY ONE reacting like this? No other nation is freaking out over do***ents being released and there are do***ents released that aren't actually about us. Get over it. We aren't the greatest nation out there... we are one of many nations that make up this ever shrinking world. We also aren't the only country that lost people on 9/11 and we aren't the only country to ever have a terrorist attack - yet we certainly can't seem to let it go and move on. I don't see Sweden panicking right now after their recent attack. Get over this idea of we are all 'victims'. We are allowing ourselves to be a fear-worshipping nation of wimps.

It's about god damn time that people in AMERIKA stand up for the truth and hold the US government accountable for there crimes.

These idiots will think differently after they find out what a wicked gangster government the USA has.

To #13dd, Yeah, RIGHT!, had nothing to do with Wiki; WTF? You'd better believe they were gonna' nail this dude, one way or another, and while none of US know if the rape charges are legit; my personal guess is that these individuals filing said charges were approached and made an offer to gain their co-operation...just saying...

This is not true, he may have sent a Check, which is not acceptable to the court and has not been accepted by Wikileaks. i hope TMZ will follow up on this, it's a cheap fraud

Julian Assange is practically in prison, in jail or out on bail even with this fatass idiot's help. His passport has been confiscated and he will be forced to wear a tracking monitor. He also will have many curfews he must follow and report to the police at a certain time each day. So bail or not, the guy is still in deep sh*t.

Everything is sweet and dandy until a bomb goes off. We aren't victims or bullies. We have every right to protect ourselves. Wikileaks is cool until something bad happens. then, everyone is going to cry that the government didn't enough to protect us . The main people will have Wikileaks contributions on a billing statement. He's using your money to pay for his rape case. What a hero!

The people who want WikiLeaks shut down or think it's a terrorist organization are those afraid find out what the government is actually up to. The people who hate America are those who keep their heads in the sand and scream TERRORIST at every shadow, yet wave their flag without even knowing what it represents!!!

I wonder if Mr. Moore gave any thought at all to the women who were victimized sexually by Mr. Assange, which was the reason behind his arrest - not Wikileaks. To be specific: rape, sexual molestation and illegal use of force in separate instances. I guess Mr. Moore picks and chooses what he considers a "social injustice."

Assange has about 250,000 do***ents, of which maybe 80,000 are classified Secret. You can't tell me that not one of the 80,000 do***ents will not harm the country generally, not just policy-makers and politicians.

While I do feel Wikileaks could be used in a positive role, it has been totally destroyed by Assange himself and his egotisical mind. It is all about him now. Contributors must feel like idiots knowing that Assange really doesn't give a damn about any of you or what information he actually releases. Just himself. The guy should have gotten a real job instead of living off the money of his contributors who have no idea where their money goes. Maybe to pay for his hookers.
