'Skins' -- Parents Org. Wants Kiddy Porn Investigation

1/20/2011 3:50 PM PST BY TMZ STAFF

The sex-obsessed, drug-heavy MTV show "Skins" is under fire from a very powerful parents org. that's now calling for a federal investigation into potential child pornography violations ... TMZ has learned.

MTV Skins PTC

The Parents Television Council has fired off a letter to the U.S Department of Justice AND the U.S. Senate and House Judiciary Committees ... over concerns the show uses underage actors in graphic sexual situations.

The organization explains, "In addition to the sexual content on the show involving cast members as young as 15, PTC counted 42 depictions and references to drugs and alcohol in the premiere episode."

The group adds, "It is clear that Viacom has knowingly produced material that may well be in violation of [several anti-child pornography laws].

Earlier this week, the New York Times reported that MTV execs have already met to discuss the issue.

So far, no comment from MTV.

also- to the one who said it's the same thing for adults to portray teenagers in sexual situations.. no it's not the same, because... and here's where you have to use your brains people... THEY ARE STILL ADULTS.

there is a different between adults playing teenagers in sexual situations and underage children playing teenagers in sexual situations.

the key difference is the word adults and underage.

God the PTC is pathetic. Every show is either "kiddy porn" or "murder simulators" or some sort of evil blasphemy. I think the creator of family guy said it best when he said something like "people who spend most of their week watching TV they hate just to write about hating it must lead a sad life". Too True. It's kind of sad some other people watching it think its some appalling thing. It's on MTV. a channel full of women being shown as sexual objects. Nothing at all is different.

Well first of all, kids shouldn't be watching stuff like this.. There are way better shows out there. So parents should spare the time of talking to their kids about this kind of stuff and just block it on there tv... Gosh... It's not that hard

Pinkluvr210 are yu a parent ? if yu are yu must suck at it. If my mom and teachers would have never told me the dangers about all that types of stuff, I would have no idea how harmful it was. Yu have to tell yur teenager/preteens about this stuff or they will end up doing them. It's called the power of knowledge

I'll agree and I'll bet all these supporters here are not even parents. Things change when you bring a child into this world.
"everyone is doing it" is what a child usually says and just because the alcohol soused UK loves it does not mean that we will. No one wants their kid growing up to be a ho or think their great value is their looks or losing their virginity at an early age. There are kids being prosecuted for sexual abuse in person and via phone and Facebook so it's not okay.Public schools if they allow these activities are open to lawsuits as well. As for bad parents, the men who encouraged their sons to get some are sick and mothers who dress their daughters explicitly are living through their daughters and putting them out there to be ostracized. TV and radio do have a massive influence on young people, and even children from a wonderful home can be lured in by peer pressure . No one wants their child's future messed up via pregnancies or STD's or even AIDS. And once a child gets a reputation it follows them throughout the school years.

I was 21 when MTV started and it had artistic class and was innovative. Now it just pumps out garbage non-stop.

I will be sure to block MTV as sure as we censure the internet as well.

Good for the PTC. I'm not a parent and I'm still in the target age group for MTV, but they need to stop pushing the envelope into societal-destruction territory. From what I've heard about this show, it definitely qualifies as such. Somebody needs to show some responsibility. If MTV won't do it, then someone else has to.

What she meant was not to bother discussing what's wrong with the show and just block it. As far as teaching our children sex ed most parents and schools do that. As a parent I stressed peer pressure, respecting one's and others bodies and the hardships and outcomes of having sex. It sounds to me as if the young people posting here are really deeply into casual sex and think everyone else would benefit from it. Sorry but the U.S. has a large audience of parents who do want the best for their kids. Brits have nothing to crow about as their country has high unemployment, high taxation, alcohol and drug abuse , are supper cynical and liberal and highest number of live in arrangements and very few worthwhile shows to watch.

And BTW no one cares what Britons think: Your country is in a heap of a mess, with lots of the socialist dole, just kicking back drinking and clubbing their lives away. They used to put out some great entertainment but not anymore.

Patrick Henry commented "It sounds to me as if the young people posting here are really deeply into casual sex and think everyone else would benefit from it."

I'm a little offended that you can make such judgments about people you don't know. I love the UK show and was excited to see the US one. I do not drink (I am of legal age) and have never taken drugs in my life; I've never even smoked a cigarette! And NO I do not participate in casual sex which almost ALL TV shows seem to endorse. And watching this show does not make me want to go out and do those things.

One episode airs at 10 pm (late night) and the whole parenting community freaks out. The PTC is worried that it is child pornography. No where in the first episode did anything remotely pornographic happen. Then they comment on the fact that there were 42 references to drugs. Did they seem to forget there are other shows that talk about drugs: "That 70's show", "WEEDS", "South Park". Not to mention the explicit commercials for KY, Enzyte and Extenze that come on TV at ALL hours of the day for children to see. Why is the PTC upset now? Trust me, this is nothing new to teenagers.

If it pleases the court, I never had these growing up in the country and had alot of fresh air,no car,no cable, and tons of DIsipline , heck I had no car until i was 21 and out of high school, I warn parents about the danger all of this danger to their kids is, the parents want to get themselves in trouble and thats the law we cannot teach them in schools, the parents should be sought who does this to the very young and prosecute to the fullest content possible if they cannot spare their children to a life in prison life or for themselves for that matter prosecute, prosecute, prosecute for safety sake!!!
