Keith Olbermann -- The Rich Get Richer

1/24/2011 10:45 AM PST BY TMZ STAFF

Keith Olbermann scored an even sweeter exit package than previously reported. Sources connected with NBC tell us Keith is pocketing "well in excess" of $7 million.

Keith Olbermann
Sources tell us ... Olbermann was due for two salary hikes during the last two years of his contract, which would have netted him just over $17 million. The exit deal, we're told, gives Keith much more than $7 million, though our sources would not be more specific.

And we're told ... Olbermann agreed as part of his exit deal not to do television, but our sources say he'll be benched for less than 4 1/2 months. Conan O'Brien had to sit out twice that amount of time.

And speaking of Conan, we're told attorney Patty Glaser, who negotiated Conan's exit from the same network, did the heavy lifting for Keith, along with his agent and manager.  We're told negotiations for the exit went on for seven weeks.

Pick a side and tear up the other side with witty pith and you too can get rich.

The rich might get richer but at least Keith is one of the few who thinks that he should pay higher taxes on his millions. Sad to see him go but I'm sure he will be back better than ever.

Do these kind of people really rank that kind of money?? I guess if you can get a job on a television show and say what they want you to say, then you do.

He may say he thinks that but we've never seen his tax filings to see if he's like every other rich person and claims every single deduction he can. People say a lot of things and then turn around and do different. And usually when they say they want the rich to pay more they mean the people that make 200k-999k. They don't have the money to hire huge accounting firms to find any obscure way to pay less. That's why the administration didn't support Kerry's plan of just raising taxes on 1 mill plus as it wouldn't have gave the Gov't much more than it's getting now. And any rich person that claims they should pay more taxes can actually donate money to the US Treasury (for real) yet they don't. Most likely because it wouldn't be deductible.

Comcast Network Cable, the new owners of NBC Universal is going to run NBC into the ground with their idiot management decisions. I have preveiously dropped Comcast Cable and picked up AT&T U-verse Digital and could not be happier. It's cheaper with alot more option content.

Keith had a contract for two more years when it was decided to terminate his show. He could have gotten the whole $17 million but Keith graciously accepted $7 million to leave quietly. Sounds like sour grapes from the conservatives.
Of course if you are a conservative you would not like Keith, his show or his attitude. I am a progressive. I DETEST Glenn Beck, Bill O'Reilly, etc and FOX as a whole. Glenn Beck who puts drops in his eyes so he can cry on command, O'Reilly who has his employees stalk people who have a difference of opinion of him. Maybe the reason the conservatives hate him is because he makes sense.
I love Keith's wit, his infamous Worst Person in the World segments, and his special comments. Now, who will help get people to donate their time and money to help those of us who can't afford to see doctors? Keith has compassion and he uses it to help others. I can't wait for him to get back on television. I will not be watching MSNBC again.
