Schick -- We're Cutting Our Ads from 'Skins'

1/24/2011 6:15 PM PST BY TMZ STAFF

The exodus continues ... Schick has now pulled its commercials from the controversial MTV show, "Skins."

MTV Skins Controversy

A rep for the company tells TMZ, "After 'Skins' on MTV aired last week, the makers of Schick Hydro decided not to advertise during the program because some of this show’s content is not aligned with Schick corporate guidelines."

So that makes Schick, Subway, H&R Block, Taco Bell, Wrigley and GM to pull its ads from the show.

UPDATE: A rep for MTV tells TMZ, "'Skins' has earned the loyalty of fans across the globe for its thoughtful and honest portrayal of teen life today. An internationally acclaimed scripted drama, the show has been honored with a long list of prestigious awards. MTV stands by the US adaptation of 'Skins' and the vision of its creator Bryan Elsley."

GOOD. This show is trash. It really is. Why should people let their 15 year old kids watch kids have sex, do serious drugs, and become failures. Why MTV would promote VERY YOUNG KIDS doing drugs and having sex is beyond me. Its not like these kids are 18-21...there 15 and 16 years old.

All this is gonna do is make people wanna watch it more since its "bad for you to watch". Just like Weed, and under age drinking...

I'm sorry, but it is just a fact of life that teenagers these days engage in that kind of behavior, and getting a TV show taken off the air is not going to change the reality of that. It was happening before Skins, and it's going to keep happening after.

I wonder about a society that pulls ads from purportedly sexy shows but not the violent ones. I notice that the Rambo movies always have sponsers as does Deer Hunter, all the Charles Bronson and 007 mivies and so on. So it's okay to watch murder and mayhem but not sex? With the violence in the country today this doesn't make much sense.

Wow the PTC are a bunch of idiots, now everybody is gonna be watching the show. I seen the show, didn't think it was that good although it has potential, but there was no child pornography in there. It's raunchy but there's worse on TV.

First off all, you "moral" high authorities here should take the sticks out of your asses. Secondly, not up to company standards? Isn't the Schick Hyrdo that razor with the commercial with the hot Asian girl in nothing but her bra and panties having a pillow fight with her equally undressed boyfriend? Also, don't they have another commercial where it's implied that the couple is about to have sex? He's sitting there with a dumbass "Oh yeah" look on his face and she throws her shirt in his face and implies that she's topless. So they bitch about sex, yet use it to sell their products. I love hypocrites. I don't understand what people are bitching about with this show. What the hell is the difference between this show and movies like Superbad and American Pie where they do the same damn things on this show? Why is everyone bitching about the actors being underage? Are they actually having sex? Are they actually getting drunk? Are they actually getting high? It's a ****ing TV show for God's sake as in it's not real. Good ol' America. **** like this is why the rest of the world hates us. It's cool to show some poor **** laying dead in the streets with a gunshot wound, but a girl (Janet Jackson) shows her tit for half a second, or if the word sex is even implied, you have the Republican arm (yeah I ****ing said it)of the TV censors up in arms and talking about how this is somehow child porn. **** off.

Again, wow im surprised people are freaking out over this show. The original Skins is SO much better. The MTV version is a watered down, G rated show. I just watched the original "Tony" version again and it made me kind of sad, that MTV took such an amazing, cutting edge show and tried to turn it into something America could stomach, which i guess a lot of people in the US cant.

BTW, im American and i know my opinion is in the minority.

Nice to know that some major American corporations still have morals and values. I hope that many other major sponsors will also follow suite and send a strong message to MTV that shows that promote violence, sex and teenage pregnancy may not be as "cool" as they thought. Funny, I thought they were a "music video" channel.

Personally i hate MTV shows more and more. They go out there to get the stupidest, ugliest, fakest, and richest people and make them stupider, uglier, faker, and richer. I cant believe people watch these kinds of show. We give publicity for people doing absolutely NOTHING. Kids used to say they wanted to be a firefighter or an astronaut one day. Now they say the want to be like Snooki or Miley and marry the Situation. Its no wonder that there are 12 and 13 year olds pregnant. These shows make kids think that partying and drinking and sex are everything. Honestly most teenagers are at home studying or texting just being bored. So these shows aren't even 'REALITY'

They should solicit companies like Vivid, Hustler, Wicked and Trojan to advertise on their show!

What a bunch of hypocrites, they were all fine with the show until somebody started crying about it.

Yesssss!!!! keep it comin

Thank God people are standing up for these kids, my kids....
I like shows like teen mom, and true life. Some things on MTV are actually an education to me, but Skins does not represent all teens, and all parents. I have two little children and you are teling me that is their future, to hell it is.

The United States said nothing while broadcasting the original UK version of "Skins" on cable channel "BBC America". When the US version was created, I bet it was tame in comparison. People in the states do not whine or bitch until there's a squeaky wheel. At the same time, you all have no problem with girls 16 years, old and still in high school, getting pregnant and some with the hopes of getting on MTV's "16 and Pregnant".
