Jimmy Buffett's

Frightening Fall

Caught on Tape

1/26/2011 2:30 PM PST BY TMZ STAFF

Jimmy Buffett plummeted off the stage in Australia last night and crashed HARD into the concrete floor -- and the devastating accident was all captured on tape ... and obtained by TMZ.

videos
The footage shows Buffett casually strolling towards the front of the stage when he clearly misjudges the end ... and literally steps off the edge.

Moments after Buffett hit the ground, security rushed to the singer's aid.

As we first reported, Jimmy appeared to be knocked unconscious for 10-15 minutes after the fall -- and suffered a nasty gash on his head. Jimmy was taken to St. Vincent's Hospital in Sydney and is in stable condition.

UPDATE: According to Buffett's website he is "doing well and will be released tomorrow."

There are a lot more things to get upset about ,than people poking fun at a old washed up performer who has not done any thing worth while in decades!

Jimmy is a very fit 64 year old with an active livestyle. In better shape than most 40 year olds. Hurry back, Jimmy.

I think it's REAL LAME for SOME of you to blame "A LIGHT TECH" for this. A line from one of JIMMY BUFFETS OWN songs comes to mind;
"but I know, it's MY OWN damm fault!"

51. I'm not sure what you are referring to. Nothing in decades? He has written catalogs of incredibly popular songs, sold millions of cd's, travels the world and sells out virtualy every concert, he has written 2 or 3 fairly popular books, has his own line of rum and an entire line of clothing. You may not be a fan, which is more than ok, but I would like to see your resume.

Speedy recovery, Mate!

From little Tommy from across the street in 1954. "Life is (still) just a tire swing!" Best of luck, Jimmy, get back up and sing soon! Capt. Grant would accept nothing less from his son's son, n'est pas?

Just saw (08.20 27 Jan. Sydney time) a live report on Channel 9’s Today show with the Director of Emergency Services at St Vincent’s Hospital in Sydney. This fellow, a doctor, was at the concert and was the first medico to reach Jimmy after the fall and rode with him to the hospital and over saw his treatment. He said jimmy had bad cuts to the side of his head but all the neuro tests showed he is otherwise fine. He will be discharged today (27 Jan) and will need some quiet time to convalesce. This will probably mean the NZ leg of the tour may have to be cancelled I guess.
Bad incident but it could have been a lot worse. They are putting the fall down to Jimmy being blinded by a stage light and basically walking right off the end of the stage, so all you wankers who posted about him being too old, stoned etc, GO EAT YOUR HAT!

OMG - love him! You can see on the video that most of the security peoples' heads are about even with the edge of the stage so it was way more than 3 ft. Goodness - bleeding and unconscious is certainly no joke....
