'Golden Voice' -- Famous Cardboard Sign for Sale

2/4/2011 9:00 AM PST BY TMZ STAFF

"Golden-voiced" homeless man Ted Williams is using his most famous panhandling sign to ask for money one last time ... by selling it in an online auction.

TMZ has learned, Williams is planning to auction off the original cardboard sign seen in the YouTube video that launched him to superstardom. His camouflage jacket will hit the auction block as well.

Williams' rep tells TMZ, all proceeds from the auction will go to the “Ted Williams Second Chance Foundation” which, we’re told, was created to help talented people who need “a hand up and not a hand out.”

So far, no word on when the items will hit the auction block.

The fascination with Ted is that he had an amazing voice and was supposedly "clean" for two year.

Now we hear that he's been the furthest thing from clean and all the opportunities to get clean he's not taken.

I wouldn't pay even a penny for that ratty sign. The shiny vinear of Ted is fading fast.

Ted "No Videos" Williams...what a joke.

Hey, Ted. You better hang on to that valuable sign - I have a reeeally strong feeling you are going to need it very soon. Such a shame that you threw away/rejected every "golden" opportunity offered to you.

There's a problem here

This man was homeless for a reason. Dr Phil and the paps exploited this person miserably, and made such a feel-good story out of him. It isn't. His face is out of nightmare, just like his life is. Check him out in a year ... if he's even still alive. I hope he takes Dr Phil out with him too.

This guy just gives me the creeps. Even if he cleaned up he would be a fright. There seems to be something very off with him.

For the life of me, I can't think of a single reason why any person would buy this stuff. You spend a bunch of money on it, have in the garage or or whatever and then what? A year from now no one will even remember what the heck you're talking about if you try to explain.

Really? Didn't he learn by how little he got for his tent? "Those who fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat their mistakes!" His 15 minutes are up!

Gotta to admit it though, the dudes still got a better grill than Charlie! Maybe he can be Charlie's teeth double?

i really wonder why so many of you are so bitter.
here's hoping he goes to another rehab and completes that, and meanwhile, nice to see him out there looking so much better and eating in a good restaurant, though its too bad you sour owls noticed that. must be jealousy.

Paying for somebody to go to rehab is a handup, not a handout. Granted, Dr. Phil did it because he's a horrible human being who will exploit anybody's misery for ratings. But Ted did have an opportunity to help himself while he was there, and instead he bailed in 2 weeks. So please spare us anymore of this loser's foundation crap; to have his name attached to anything that purports to change lives is laughable.

Brilliant, Brian. Truly a handup and Ted 'No Videos' Williams spit on that. A "golden" opportunity to turn his life around and he pissed it away.

Just leave the dude alone. He had his day in the sun. If he blows it, too bad. If he's truly successful, then he'll be an inspiration for all the homeless suffering from depression. I only wish him well. "But for the grace of God, there goes you or I!!!"
