WWE -- GB Packers Locked In for Smackdown

2/8/2011 5:55 PM PST BY TMZ STAFF

Donald Driver and some of his Super Bowl champion teammates are all set to attend a WWE event in Green Bay tonight, where they'll be treated like the V.I.P.s they are ... this according to the WWE.

A rep for the WWE tells TMZ ... wrestling honchos were so excited to see Aaron Rodgers and company hoisting a WWE championship belt after they beat the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday, they reached out to see if the team would like to sit ringside at Smackdown tonight.

Here’s the best part – WWE tells us several Packers are FIRED up about the idea … and accepted the invitation. Among the guests -- Donald Driver, Graham Harrell, Donald Lee, Brandon Jackson, Scott Wells, Chris Campbell, Tom Crabtree and Curtis Young.

We’re told the players and their families will be set up with a special meet and greet with the superstars … PLUS  each player gets an authentic replica championship belt.

It’s good to be the king.

Believe me, Wisconsin folks are hicks. Green Bay does have a nice casino though.

SPOILER: Clay Matthews is going to make the 3 count in the World Heavyweight Title match, when Edge pins Ziggler. Vickie tries to spear Edge, goes down, Edge spears Ziggler, Matthews comes out with a ref shirt and counts the pinfall.

Make sure you watch Smackdown on Friday night. Green Bay linebacker Clay Matthews gets involved in a match. Kinda neat.

It was planned beforehand for them to go to Smackdown, andd it was planned to have the winning quarterback to have the WWE championship Belt. THey had the samething setup for the Steelers if they would of won too.

Gosh. I was born in Miami and raised in Wisconsin, although I haven't lived there since 1978. But I take great offense to the idea that Wisconsin people are nothing but hicks. Yes, it's an agricultural/industrial state, and it has its share of hicks just like any other state, but to say it's full of hicks and an "awful place," is not very polite. It has one of the most progressive university systems in the country and Madison for one is a very sophisticated city for its size. And for WI to have a major league team like the Green Bay Packers, and the loyalty of its fan base is legendary, unlike the Panthers here in NC. I am proud to be a Badger and a Cheese-head, and I LOVE my Green Bay Packers, and I am so proud of ALL of them. Go Pack Go!!!!

#20 doesn't know what he's talking about. The only reason Aaron Rodgers had a championship belt after the Super Bowl is because he has been doing the "World Champ" arm motion all season. Giving Big Ben a belt would have made absolutely zero sense. The WWE did NOT set that up.

Also, TMZ, Donald Driver was NOT in attendance on Tuesday night.

It wasn't even a WWE belt, it was a UFC belt.
