Halle's Race War with Gabriel:

Our Daughter IS Black

2/8/2011 11:00 AM PST BY TMZ STAFF

Halle Berry says it point blank ... her daughter is Black -- a direct message to her ex Gabriel Aubry who, according to sources, "went nuts" anytime someone called Nahla Black.

Halle says in an upcoming interview with EBONY magazine, "I feel she's Black. I'm Black and I'm her mother, and I believe in the one-drop theory." The one-drop rule was used during segregation to describe anyone who wasn't 100% Caucasian.

As TMZ first reported, sources connected with the former couple say Gabriel insists Nahla is White.

Truth is, they're both sorta right ... and both sorta wrong.

So, we gotta ask ...

Halle Berry said he feels her daughter is black, because she, her mother is black. I understand that.

Halle did not make the 'one drop rule', white folks did.
It's stupid of Gabriel to have a baby with a black woman and
get upset if you call the child black. 'go figure'

First of all this is kind of crazy? We all have been subjected to a rule made at a terrible time in our history! Made to hold a race of people back, , We are all human beings and no matter what a rule say's fact is fact. There is know way to change what race you are. We must embrace all of who we are, Black, White, If we are going to make judgment about race it should be to love one another as the Human race period. I don't pray and say Amen anymore, I say All men. 1 LOVE!

mixed, is black!
Halle did not make the one drop rule.
white folks love to try to change things, to fit their need.
I don't blame Halle for labeling her baby as black.
And girly acting Gabriel needs to get a better job so he can
pay child support. I'm so glad Halle did not marry that scrub!

If Halle is MIXED, and her ex is Caucasian - that clearly makes the baby slightly more white than black, so her invoking SLAVERY ERA TERMS and the "one drop" rule is beyond creepy - what is she trying to prove? If this is to get at her ex, it's a really 'ignant' way to do it! Halle, for shame!

Let's say you have vanilla ice cream and you have chocolate ice cream. You decide you want vanilla ice cream but in the process of preparing it, a drop of chocolate ice cream gets into the vanilla ice cream. But since you like both flavors, it's not that big of a deal to you. You still consider it vanilla ice cream because it is still 99% vanilla ice cream and eat it anyway. However, let's say it was a drop of dog **** that got into the vanilla ice cream. Even though it's still 99% vanilla ice cream, you would not eat it because dog **** is not ice cream. The dog **** has contaminated the rest of the ice cream making it inedible and it is now "dog **** ice cream".

That's what the premise of the one-drop rule is. It is the belief that being of African ancestry is so inferior to European ancestry that having even 1% of it contaminates you, making you black, even though the majority of you is white. It is equating black is inferior to white like dog **** is inferior to vanilla ice cream. I cannot understand how anyone can be so ignorant to support the one-drop rule. It makes me sick.

You are all wrong wrong wrong. Humans are all flesh colored (which is closer to orange than to black or white). Blacks simply have more saturation than whites do. Just like red is a more saturated color than pink but both mainly stimulate the red detectors in our eyes. Some, but not nearly all, black races have a tiny bit of blue tint in their mostly orange color.

Anyhow, we're all basically orange in color, we vary by saturation. Beyond that Halle and Gabriel are an immature fighting ex couple.

"If he has a problem with it, he wouldn't have put his weiner inside YOU. So stop being stupid"

Disturb, thats an incredibly naive statment. Just because someone has a problem with your race doesn't mean they put their weiner in you. Happened all the time on the plantation. But this story is beyond race. This is two people trying to hurt each by and will use any words necessary to do it. I agree he probably isn't a racist but race is a convenient weapon.

Halle is bi-racial, because her mother is white and her father was African-American. But as a white mother of biracial children, one adopted and raised by a white man (my ex) who refused to acknowledge her ethnicity let me tell you that people see you and label you as white or black, and it's best to identify yourself as being one or the other if you're bi-racial, because that's how people are going to see you. This is so not a color blind society. People would say Halle was crazy if she identified herself as white. So it's good and healthy that she identifies herself as Black and her daughter as well, because people are not going to see her child as white either. And trust me, it's a big problem for white men who want to only identify their bi-racial child as being "white" because they're in denial. You're going to get a whole world of whiteness thrust upon you as it is. You're going to learn all about it every day. But if your parents do not let you identify with your African-American heritage or teach you about it and expose you to it too you're in for a world of hurt that might start the first time someone on the school bus or playground calls you the "n" word when your parents aren't around. If dad only refers to Nahla as being white and gets pissed if anyone mentions the other side of her heritage he's inferring that there is something wrong with it, something to be ashamed of. That these two grownups who are in the limelight are fighting about something so sensitive, and their daughter will read all about what this parent or that parent said one day is really sad. The "I believe in the 'one drop' theory" quote makes me kind of cringe, because that was come up with during a very racist and shameful period in our nation's history (not like it's all that different today), and sounds so archaic, but in reality...that IS the way our society will see it, too. Beautiful biracial women are very attractive to many men of all ethnicities. That the ex got involved with Halle in the first place does NOT mean he is not racist. He may well be, especially if he is one of the "my child is as much white as black...and therefore I refuse to acknowledge her black side" folks and if he is he is not the best one to raise her. But I am sure they'll come to a joint custody agreement, and get counseling, etc. It will all be fine. But there may be lots of ugly emotions and words on the way to making fine happen.

Beauty is beauty, is color really that important? All we have to do is look for beauty in everyone.

The daughter is 75% white, actually. I think anyone who is more of a certain race, percentage wise, should be legally required to state that they are of that race. If they are 50/50, then they should be able to list the race of their choice.

Will someone please tell Halle that she's been emancipated?

Dear God, the "one drop" rule was a sick law designed to place a person of mixed race into what was considered the "lower" race.

She's striking me more and more as a racist herself.

Here is the real deal people. America is obsessed with labeling human beings, be it their physical looks, their character traits, and /or their culture. As human beings we are extremely visual and thru that we make our usual assumptions. Depending on how their daughter looks physically as she gets older, will be how sociality will embrace her. We don't have the mental capacity to figure out fast enough or at all what a persons real "race" is all most all of the time, so we just put them in whatever box we believe they fit. Only on offical do***ents do persons of direct racial mixture get to see them selves represented. In the everyday motions of life when it concerns their contact with other humans are they eithor just white/black/asian/hispanic and so on. Especially in the US as diverse as we are, we still can't see anything beyond those standard categories. Race and identity will always and forever be a struggle in the human condition as long as we all continue to have polar opposite features. I propse that no one should mate with someone of there same race or feature base, we should all mate with our physical opposites and maybe in a few centuries or millenia or more, we might morph into more of a single physical race whatever that might be.
