Police Report: How Lindsay Walked Out with Necklace

2/10/2011 2:00 PM PST BY TMZ STAFF

Lindsay Lohan was trying on a slew of jewelry before walking out of the store with the $2,500 necklace ... this according to the police report obtained by TMZ.

Lindsay Lohan Necklace
The report outlines Lindsay's every move -- from the time she walked into the store to the time she left -- and it's all on surveillance video.

According to the report, Lindsay walked in and removed her necklaces and placed them on the counter.  The report says, "Ms. Lohan then proceeds to try on numerous rings and three different necklaces including the missing yellow diamond necklace."

The police report then says Lindsay continued shopping while wearing the yellow necklace.

Then, at 6:12 PM, the owner locked the store but let Lindsay and her friend Patrick continue to shop.  That's when Lindsay tried negotiating a ring she had been eyeing, but she didn't like the $3,600 price tag.  Lindsay took $3,000 cash out of her purse and offered it in exchange for the ring, but the owner said no.  Lindsay then said, "Ok, we'll come back tomorrow."

When Lindsay prepared to leave the store, she put her own necklaces back on her neck, along with the yellow necklace in question ... then walked out of the store.

The owner noticed a short time after Lindsay left that the yellow necklace was missing, but figured she took it by mistake and would bring it back the next day.  Lindsay never returned to the store.

I would love to see their books for the past 6 months and the next 6 months because regardless of who did or did not do what they are sure to profit from this.

If she had $3,000 cash and liked the necklace so much, why didn't she buy it? I've never known a jeweler store owner who wouldn't have his eye on his jewelry the whole time someone looks at it, so how did she manage to walk out with the necklace? Would love to see and hear that video!

If I were the store owners, I would sue the Lohans for defamation.

@ amy 303

Wouldn't they have to show that all this hurt, not helped their business?

The Lohans dont have any money, whats the point of suing?

insurance deductables vary according to the policy and how much they pay for their insurance. Even if it is not an insurance situation, there is something not quite right about this case. You have to admit that this is not your tyical open and shut shoplifting/theft case. If I were the DA, this is not a case I would want to bring to trial. I am not saying she has never stolen or is not a thief, but this is such a muddy case as the stories have changed so many times.

Simply put....she's a shoplifter. Her dress looks like the one sharon stone wore in Basic Instinct. Also instead of putting F U on her fingernails, she did it w/her dress. By the way, where's mama Dina?

I sort of believe her! I walked out of Macy's with a DVF purse on my arm and didn't realize it until I got into the parking lot! I was debating between two, paid for one,had a few bags on my arms and before you know it I was a thief! I did return it to the store, all while breaking a serious sweat and having heart palpitations that I'd be featured on the local news! I know Lyndsay is crazy, but somethings up with the store owners...maybe they wanted free publicity and had no idea it would go this far!

Remember, this thief is an ACTRESS and this is not her fist accusation. Imo this was pre-meditated and she purposely knew how to distract the owner and salespeople there. If she went in on the spur of the moment, wearing a lot of her own jewelry, she would have carefully seperated it from any she was trying on. She really wanted the necklace but didn't want to pay for it and probably knew they'd refuse to lend it to her. She had the cash and just pretended to be interested in the ring and showed the money to establish an alibi. She covered up the necklace with her own and didn't return the necklace until she found out about the warrant and then shows her guilt by having whomever return it to the police station.

Most people going out to buy jewelry would not be wearing much to begin with or would take it off and put it in their purse before trying it on. That business about her forgetting her diamond earrings was also a pre-meditated ruse imo.

Give her a job washing dishes on a remake of "To Catch A Thief!"

TMZ is playing both sides to create drama amongst readers and create more buzz to get more views. Not bad TMZ.

Then no harm no foul Lindsay forgot to return it that simple. They got there necklace back. They both are at fault. Though I do believe it was intentional that she did not return the necklace in question asap. This story gets even better it sounds as if the owner is now back tracking and I will not shop at that store again. Its amazing how something so simple got twisted, though you do have to admit there is a pattern of behaviour. Just sayin. The owner should not allow a customer to try on many pieces at a time for this very reason. Protocol buddy.

You mean the surveillance video doesn't show Lindsay's "stylist" signing an agreement saying Lindsay was taking the necklace out on loan, as Lindsay originally said?

Lindsay never said she forgot she had the necklace on and left the store- that is all TMZ's version of the events. Lindsay said the store had LOANED the necklace to her, in which case the surveillance video would show her or her stylist sign a do***ent saying as such.

Get a Nose Job, please!!!

Lindsay has the IQ of a tree stump. Guess she wasn't taught by her two times in prison Dad and stage mother that it's against the law to steal. Since she's as dumb as a rock, did she ever go to school? Instead of spending Lindsay's earnings as a child star, they should have saved that money for her education. Lindsay will never become a law abiding person unless she spends some time in Prison. Then maybe she can learn not to be such a Egomanaic Moron.

@309- she didn't say she forgot to return it. She also wore it on several occasions since she "took it" so saying she simply "forgot" she had it on doesn't make sense, because when she got home she would have noticed she had it on, called the store, and returned it the next day.

She returned it over a week later after a search warrant was issued. It's not "no harm no foul", it's grand theft.
