Police Report: How Lindsay Walked Out with Necklace

2/10/2011 2:00 PM PST BY TMZ STAFF

Lindsay Lohan was trying on a slew of jewelry before walking out of the store with the $2,500 necklace ... this according to the police report obtained by TMZ.

Lindsay Lohan Necklace
The report outlines Lindsay's every move -- from the time she walked into the store to the time she left -- and it's all on surveillance video.

According to the report, Lindsay walked in and removed her necklaces and placed them on the counter.  The report says, "Ms. Lohan then proceeds to try on numerous rings and three different necklaces including the missing yellow diamond necklace."

The police report then says Lindsay continued shopping while wearing the yellow necklace.

Then, at 6:12 PM, the owner locked the store but let Lindsay and her friend Patrick continue to shop.  That's when Lindsay tried negotiating a ring she had been eyeing, but she didn't like the $3,600 price tag.  Lindsay took $3,000 cash out of her purse and offered it in exchange for the ring, but the owner said no.  Lindsay then said, "Ok, we'll come back tomorrow."

When Lindsay prepared to leave the store, she put her own necklaces back on her neck, along with the yellow necklace in question ... then walked out of the store.

The owner noticed a short time after Lindsay left that the yellow necklace was missing, but figured she took it by mistake and would bring it back the next day.  Lindsay never returned to the store.

I can't figure out if it is just a sense of entitlement or simple kleptomania. I mean, how do you mistakenly take an expensive necklace out of a store and not have it returned as soon as you realize it? A phone call perhaps? Instead, she apparently wore it around town a bit, which the sense of entitlement rears it's head. Either way, I would hate to see her go to jail for this. She just seems too fragile for that.

It's a felony because it's over $2,000.

@ Sunny Actually their story hasn't changed. Just which facts TMZ is giving us have changed. This story comes from the original police report, and the store owners didn't say anything to contradict it.

Ain't America Great???? Free entertainment in your own home brought to you by TMZ and Lindsay Lohan! TMZ really got lucky with this kooky klepto, and crazy crackhead, and batty batterer (all alleged of course). Course she herself thinks she's a starlet.

There are two strange questions here. Obviously the store didn't loan it to her but why didn't they contact her when they realized what had happened?!
Secondly, I'd love to say Lindsay was just absentminded and didn't mean to take it but why did she continue to wear it days later if she had taken it by mistake.
Both sides are effed up.

They didn't want to contact Lindsay. They were ripped off and pissed off and reported the theft. It is infuriating to be stolen from. Why should they do her any favors? And you are right, it makes no sense she wore the necklace for a week and didn't realize she had it.

"... you want the brand you pay the price!" - words that Lohan should familiarize herself with.

It's been asked before, why did the store not contact LL about the necklace?

It's looking more and more like this store is just looking for publicity. I think everyone should just stay away from it and move onto another jeweler.

That's funny Nicole Enabler, because yesterday when I asked you to name the store you said that you knew that name of the store, that it's "______ & son, but I don't want to give them any publicity", but today it's "& co."? Sounds like you did exactly what I said you would do, a little Googling, for the next time someone asked you that same question.

I have to know, honest to goodness, can the bony, freckled, klepto named Loser Lie-ho do ANY wrong in your book? I mean, if she took a gun, walked up to some random person on the street, and blew their brain out, all without being provoked, right in front of your face, would you STILL deny that she did, or claim that is was all a misunderstanding? Seriously, how many times does this menace have to break the law over and over again before you get your head out of her diseased ass and admit that yes, she's a criminal and yes, she should pay for her crimes? Instead, you sit here day after day crying about how it's all an injustice, and counting down the days until Loser Lie-ho is free and clear to commit more crimes. As the big fan of Lie-ho that you claim you are, shouldn't you want her to get the help she so desperately needs and straighten her ass out? Because the multiple trips to rehab obviously didn't do the trick, it's time for some hard prison time. You don't sound like much of a fan of her to me, Dina, er, Nicole.

It is really hard to tell with TMZ's credibility anymore and facts. It's rather apparent they'll take money from publicists and agents to spin something away or discredit the opposition. TMZ Live is more about promoting themselves instead of answering viewers' questions. The U.S. Justice System has become a joke when someone is allowed 43 lawyers in family court and they present these million dollar bills, that is the story TMZ needs to be investigating, how this is allowed to happen and who are the lawyers, judges and everyone involved. It affects us all. There may be times when we are powerless to prevent injustice, but there must never be a time when we fail to protest. -- Elie Wiesel

Now it turns out that Lindsay is the one who did ALL of this to try and get new publicity: FOR THE NEW BOUTIQUE SHE AND DINA ARE OPENING TO SELL JEWELRY! RADAR ONLINE has it now; it was all about Lindsay's jewelry store all the time! Will she sell Fvck You Nails too?
