Madonna vs. Lady Gaga -- It's On!

I'm not sure what 67 percent of you were listening to if you really believe Gaga ripped off Madonna's Express Yourself. They are 2 completely different songs, and they don't really sound at all alike to me.

@ poster Terminal Tower, I noticed the same thing too with similarity of Alejandro and La Isla Bonita. This song sounds like a rip off too. Can't stand lady caca, but Madge was cute back in the day. I had forgotten. Hope she sues.

I thought the same thing when I first heard it!!!! I even sang it along with the gaga song the 2nd time it was on..... not cool!

Music is always a re-invention of things past.....Madonna's Express Yourself was inspired by the Staples song Respect Yourself. Even the spoken part of Born This Way is like a rap ( as was Vogue ) but you can't say that GaGa ripped of rap. Music is an art form it evolves. Personally I love both these women. Madonna isn't the greatest vocalist but sure sure is a wonderful performer. Lady GaGa is a great performer and and very good vocalist.

wanna talk rip-off or homage? Let's talk about that whole dance skit there by Madonna- it is so clearly a Michael Jackson wanna-be routine it isn't even funny. Everything- even the beginning, the shadow bit.. sad.
As for the songs being alike? I don't hear it..not in a way that would mark it a rip off.

The ONLY people who believes GaGa is original are under 20's with no exposure to the history of style or music. Grace Jones, Cher, Madonna, even some guy rockers have been duplicated in her reign. I think it's time that monster come up with some original stuff or be put out to pasture.

The problem is that its ok for gaga (who claims to be original) but when others do it everyone tears into them IE Xtina

I agree, #27, musicians like Freddie Mercury did what she's trying to do better. Much better.
