Starting Bid $10 Mil

2/26/2011 5:50 PM PST BY TMZ STAFF

Charlie Sheen tells TMZ he's writing a tell-all book about life on the set of "Two and a Half Men" -- with details about what led up to the final implosion -- and he wants at least $10 mil for the publishing rights.

Charlie Sheen Book Deal
Sheen tells us he wants the world to know what really happened behind-the-scenes of the show during his 8-year run ... the good times and the bad ... and he plans on naming names -- including co-stars.

We're told Sheen even has a title in mind -- "When the Laughter Stopped."

Sheen says even though he's still working on the book -- he's expecting a bidding war for the publishing rights ... starting around $10 mil.

As TMZ first reported, "Men" honchos shut down production for the season after Charlie told us he wanted to fight creator Chuck Lorre.

Melanie Lubelski

Ten million for a tell all book about the cast and crew of Two and Half Men?? Charlie needs to write an autobiography about his escapades and all his decadent behavior. This would probably make more then ten million.

The Aviator is Charlie. I'd bet my last dollar on it. He's been posting under several monikers on different websites.

There are 2 separate issues going on here. First, is the contract between the actors on this show and Warner Bros. Who breached what is for lawyers to figure out. We know that, a month or so ago, when tv execs 'rolled' (his words) into his house and confronted him about his drugging/drinking, he actually acted grateful, thanked then, and checked himself into a facility.

There was apparently some sort of agreement between Lorre and Sheen that involved Charlie getting clean and then coming back to work.

Obviously, Charlie didn't stay sober, or if he IS (again, which I highly doubt) then at the VERY least, he isn't taking his psyche meds. I lived with a severe bipolar individual for 20 years and I know what actue mania sounds like. Hist last 2 radio interviews are textbook examples...listen to them. Pressured speech, stammering, paranoia, disconnected sentences, and (most painful) the narcissistic, grandiose statements. Conceit and self-centeredness are unattractive. He doesn't seem to realize this. (CHARLIE, IF YOU ARE READING THIS, AT LEAST TRY TO UNDERSTAND THAT YOU ARE TURNING PEOPLE OFF WITH ALL THE ME-ME-ME TALK...a little humility would help your image immensely.)

Which brings me to issue #2: his mental health. He clearly has both substance abuse issues and a mood disorder, and it appears to be bipolar illness. People assume that he must be high on coke or meth, but if you really understood acute manic states, you'd know that people going through them act exactly like this. They can go for DAYS on little to NO sleep. They feel superhuman, empowered, 'energized' (a term Alex Jones uses over and over) and almost god-like (at one point in the interview, Jones compares Sheen to Bacchus, the God of Wine, and Charlie responds by saying "keep talking, keep going, I love what you are saying about me.") Again, classic, text book manic behavior.

Actue mania can last for hours, days, even weeks. It's as if the individual has pressed the 'fast forward' button on their brain. Their decision making skills are badly skewed; they often spend money carelessly, making outlandish purchases w/o thinking them through. The one point that cannot be emphasized enough, however, is that in THEIR mind, they are perfectly rational, perfectly sane, in fact, they often think that they have never in better shape ever before in their lives. Their bodies may be crying out for rest or nutrition, but their brains don't feel this.

I read one article that quoted Sheen as saying that he showed up for work 'in epic shape.' He truly thinks this. The rest of us can clearly see, from recent photographs, that his physical condition is deteriorating. He looks gaunt, too thin, his face is sunken in, and his teeth are in bad shape. But when HE looks in a mirror, the chemicals in his brain aren't showing him what the rest of us see.

This is a very sad and volatile situation. Worst of all, are creative artistic people who experience mania. They often don't WANT to take the medicine that will bring their mental state back to normal, because they feel it blunts their 'edge', makes them 'boring' or 'normal' (all terms Charlie has used pejoratively.) I have a close relative who is a musical genius. In manic states, he has written hundreds of plays, songs, operas even.

If he takes lithium (still the most popular medicine used to treat manic-depression) the creative IS blunted...he CANNOT stay up for 72 hours straight, writing screenplays at lightning speeed. He is not wrong in experiencing a shift downward in productivity. And so he chooses to stay in an unmedicated and untreated state...wildly shifting between one extreme to another. And this is exactly what Sheen said in his A. Jones interview...that he only lives for the extremes, that the 'middle ground' is not a place he wants to be. He talks about 'loving violently' and 'hating violently'.

To outside observers who are supporting him, at first blush, you might think "well why not???...let him live his life the way he chooses.."

Problem with this is that he doesn't live in a vacuum. He is the father of five children who need their dad alive and well, not swinging from a chandelier at 3 am. Not to mention his parents, siblings, and friends who all care about him and would probably like to see him around for another 40 years.

Arguing with or appealing to a person in acute mania is USELESS. Their brains are literally broken...their perceptions distorted. You can say the word 'yellow' and what he hears is "raging, screaming, glow-in-the-dark bright orange sun that ripples up my brain and tries to engulf me in fiery flames.' Get it?

Manic episodes usually burn themselves out...the body eventually collapses. But if drugs and alcohol are added to the mix, the mania can go on a very long time. One do***ented case was of a man who stayed in an acute manic phase for EIGHT MONTHS.

The wear and tear on the human body is huge. Like it or not, Sheen is NOT biologically different from of any of us other homo sapiens. His cells need time to repair and regenerate. His brain needs sleep. The recent hospitalization for severe stomach pain is proof that he is hurting his own body.

The possibilities? He could go on like this for another six months. He might overdose and die. He could have a massive heart attack or stroke (he is, after all, a lifelong heavy smoker, and probably has lung and heart damage.)

Or..the mania could morph into a psychotic break. This may have already happened. In that case, anything could happen. The people around him are NOT safe, and I certainly wouldn't put Charlie in charge of any children. After he accidentally shot Kelly Preston, he was stripped of his right to carry firearms, but that doens't mean he is abiding by this restriction.

The reports of his antics are wildly entertaining to the general public, but the sad fact is that this ia human life that is in trouble. I don't condone his behavior or choices, but I also don't think he is operating on a fully concious, deliberate or healthy level.

The man is sick. Let's all pray that someone medically intervenes before an unnecessary tragedy happens.

@X when you see your own PET or CAT scan and see the actual brain damage (diffused areas etc), does a manic person respond to that?

1299 days ago

@X you explained it so well and are spot on. I listened to Danny Bonaduce's show and he said Charlie Sheen will eventually crash and fall asleep and his handlers have to get in there and remove all phones, computers and knives and get him help. Can they do a 5150 if he is in Bahamas?

The laughter stopped when he announced he was writing this book.
And before that Charlie, we were laughing AT you not WITH you.

Charlie "The John" Sheen is too far gone to come back. He needs that $10 mill. He's thrown away all he has on dope and hookers. He's an immature spoiled POS full of himself. I wouldn't pay 1 cent to read the ramblings of a drug addled john blaming everyone but himself for his problems. He's a characature, a has-been, a loser.

He couldn't get it together for five minutes to write anything. It would have to be written for him, and then who would be stupid enough to believe any of it? I doubt he can remember much. His brain is full of holes and his mouth full of lies and grandiose fantasies. He can't even speak proper English without a script.

I have two things to say.

1. Where was Hollywood's outrage when Charlie Sheen was beating women?

2. I think it's clear now that Charlie pushed his own car off the cliff....twice. Why? Well who the eff knows why that POS does anything. Obviously he did though. It seems like his brand of crazy.

Hey Now

Whatever you guys think of Charlie, the messages that he is going to need 10mil or is 'pissing away' (haha pun intended) all of his money is not quite right.

He comes from a rich family regardless of his own bank account. He's not gonna end up on the streets. So his problem will never really be money (altho greed might play a factor in his current state).

He still will be making millions off of the profit generated from his sitcom reruns so financially he's fine.

His mental and medical state is what Charlie should be worried about. He needs to stop giving Radar Online his pee and blood or whatever. I guess some people thought it was drugs but many of us realized a manic episode -a really really bad one.

So he should focus on all aspects of his health. Not money. Not pee. Not blood.

Charlie sure knows how to keep the publicity flowing.

There is no book, just like there is no drug addiction. Just a guy that is a nonconformist, that's all.

xdrinker - Well written! I think you may be absolutely correct.
Whereas gossip news sources always sensationalize every tidbit of info they get (some not true at all) Charlie's own words did sound like the rambling disjointed thoughts of someone who is bi-polar - and that means he needs medical help - whether they want it or not! And yes - he and his playmates are not safe at this moment if that's the case -
Obviously he is generally a non-conformist - but from reports on his pee and blood tests being clean it seems he's not doing drugs so it could very likely be he is in a manic high stage - I do so hope someone can convince him to get the help he needs -
