Corey Feldman Mad About Corey Haim's Oscar Snub

2/28/2011 9:33 PM PST BY TMZ STAFF

Corey Feldman is upset that the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences left his good pal Corey Haim off the Oscars "In Memoriam" segment -- saying the Academy does not "have a handle on who the public adores."

0228_corey_feldman_corey_haim_EX_TMZ
Feldman tells TMZ he's particularly upset since the same "public outcry" occured after Haim was left off the SAG memorial as well.

Feldman tells us, "Corey's films have earned the industry over a half a billion dollars and his work remains an inspiration to young artists world wide ... Corey dedicated his life to the film industry. The same industry that failed to dedicate even 30 seconds to his memory."

For their part, the Academy released a statement that reads: "Whatever the length of the sequence, there will always be fans and family members of those not included who will be disappointed by their omission. The Academy extends its understanding and its apologies to those who missed seeing a favorite face in this year’s feature."

No viewer he died of years of drug abuse which brought on a heart issue and fluid in the lungs.. ie "pneumonia" .. just like Brittany Murphy it wasn't some natural cause of death it was how the body breaks down after dealing with years of prescription, narcotic abuse ... massive narcotic use combined with sleeping pills allows the body to basically inhale it's own fluids and dangerous mouth bacterias...repeat for months if not years and you get fluid in the lungs.. infection in the lungs.. hello Pneumonia... still dead by drugs.

They really should have included him. There were fewer than normal amount of recognizable names (at least to the under 40 crowd). While "public adoration" might be a bit much, they definitely could have added a 5-10 second mention of him in the montage.

Ok,everybody..This also happened with Farah Faucett.
(and others too)
There is always someone they miss.....Corey was not singled out, so don't think it was on purpose.

He wasn't "snubbed"..

It was just an unfortunate screw up. So just call it a screw up.

There are plenty of drugged up other deaths that have been noted,

so this is not an attack on how he went out.

@Alan,

Are you really so unfamiliar with the internet that you have to ask who he is here in the comments section instead of taking 2 minutes to go to Wikipedia or IMDB?

Agree with Feldman. Haim was a famous face. Yes, he screwed up his life but he made it. I even had a crush on him.

Yeah, the Academy has a tendency to do that doesn't it - as I recall Ryan O'Neal was mega pissed off that Farrah Fawcett who'd died after battling cancer for so long, and who had been an active member of the Academy for many years was ignored but MJ was put up in memoriam instead!! The Academy is for actors/actresses and it seems when you look at that roll call of memoriam names, the list gets more and more like the ones in favor rather than all those who ultimately belong!
Didn't watch the Oscars, it's too far up it's own arse these days, full of a snobbery that they no longer deserve to promote!! Jeez! I looked at the list of actors/actresses, films etc and then those that had won and the films etc, it's just an exclusive little club now that really has nothing to do with talent at all, rather more backhanders for those in favor lol!! No wonder half of them keep the Oscar they do win in the bathroom lol!

#8 I totally agree with you!! It was wrong for Corey to have been left out...perhaps the KIDS on this site don't remember his work, but like Corey F said they did not mind collecting $$ from him.
It is sad that his life ended the way it did but there have been others who have died of the same fate and have made the cut!!!!
#4...Give me a break you think charlie sheen is "curing" himself??? Get a life!! he is a bigger train wreck then Corey Haim ever came close to!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It happened last year with Brad Renfro. Just because they OD'd doesn't mean leave them out. You didn't leave Heath Ledger out just because he played a good Joker doesn't mean you play sides like that. Charlie Sheen has NOTHING to do with this. Just because they are two drug addicts doesn't connect them in anyway, shape or form

I liked his sweet movie "Lucus" he did....... again as I mentioned before it was a screw up. A very sad screw up. Don't know exactly who is doing the name screen count...(should have double checked and did more research if he didn't watch everyone's movies)..Maybe who did it should be fired, and not do it anymore. Some jobs people get fired for screw ups. This would be the case. It might be someone else left out next year too. Yes it is a heartbreak.

I'm not a Haim fan but what is the issue with the term "has been"?? most of us have have only been 'has never beens' so who are we to dig on someone who had WAY more than we ever will? Plenty of everyday normal working folks lose what they earned.. are they 'has beens' too? Just a whiny term for those who have never to dig on those who have at some point in their lives actually 'made it' Want to rag on his drug use, what he has said in the media fine... but he did live the dream for awhile.. too bad it killed him. And Kudos to Fleldman for not letting it ruin his life and rising above every obstacle that seems to present itself.
