Corey Feldman Mad About Corey Haim's Oscar Snub

2/28/2011 9:33 PM PST BY TMZ STAFF

Corey Feldman is upset that the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences left his good pal Corey Haim off the Oscars "In Memoriam" segment -- saying the Academy does not "have a handle on who the public adores."

Feldman tells TMZ he's particularly upset since the same "public outcry" occured after Haim was left off the SAG memorial as well.

Feldman tells us, "Corey's films have earned the industry over a half a billion dollars and his work remains an inspiration to young artists world wide ... Corey dedicated his life to the film industry. The same industry that failed to dedicate even 30 seconds to his memory."

For their part, the Academy released a statement that reads: "Whatever the length of the sequence, there will always be fans and family members of those not included who will be disappointed by their omission. The Academy extends its understanding and its apologies to those who missed seeing a favorite face in this year’s feature."

i found this quite unfair and disrespectful as he had many films and now they just forget him? i am a young fan as im only 14 and i loved his work and he inspired me. i cired over his death like any fan would. the film industry ruined him and now the forget him?.. and its un-real all these comments slagging haim and feldman. yeah, haim was addicted to drugs, who cares? and feldman is still a wonderful man and actor. go get a life, if your only interested in posting disrespectful comments go somewhere else to do it.

That is so sad. SAG should give back the 30 years worth of union fees that they were paid. BULL****

How was Corey an inspiration?? He was a drug addict and a loser. Why should kids or anyone else for that matter look up to him? Had he kicked his addictions or even made another film in the 1990's that wasn't direct to video, maybe he could be considered??? NOT!!!!

I agree. He should have been included. AND he did not die from drugs.

Is it really smart mouthing off to people when you need a career?
Probably not.
Careful Corey. You may stop getting hired for made to DVD Lost Boy sequels.

We as a society need to remember when it comes to most problems such as drug addiction of stars, we are the ones who are supplying them. If you have a problem with that actor/actress then you don't spend your money to support them. Corey was a good actor and made many films that many of us will always remember and watch over and over again. I personally could careless about Michael Jackson and I am sick of hearing about him, yet his drug use is glorified and he was honored. Farrah was a wonderful actress and yet she was passed over too. I'm sure they'll throw trashy Lindsey in there when she finally kills over.

Last year they forgot Farrah Fawcett. This year they forgot Corey Haim. The oscars are lame that is why I never watch it.

This wasn't a snub it was carelessness .They seem to forget people every year .Farah last year before that Yvonne De Carlo and many others over the last few years, Sad it not that hard to find out who died during the year.

Lets Be Honest

Hey you IDIOT feldman............

guess what, the Oscars will snub you also. Neither of you had any talent except having baby faces that could be marketed to tweens back in the 80's.

Now if you want to consider the "talent" you gave to Michael Jackson behind closed doors..............

While Corey Haim hadn't been in any successful films for at least ten years before he died, he did make plenty of popular and successful movies back in the day. Plus, he was definitely better known than half of the people in the "in memorium"...particularly by those in my 25-35 age group...he made an impression on most of us one way or another. I liked him AND his movies. He was not more talented or important than the people included but he definitely deserved recognition...and it would have added some age diversity to the segment as well.

" there will always be fans and family members of those not included who will be disappointed by their omission"

Really? That many people in the industry die each year that the Academy doesn't have time anywhere in a 3+ hour broadcast to recognize each and every one of them, including Haim and whoever else they left on the cutting room floor?

I don't care much about Haim one way or the other, but I have the basic decency to show respect for the dead. The Academy has its priorities seriously messed up. I call BS.
