Rips Natalie Portman

Over Pregnancy

3/4/2011 12:00 PM PST BY TMZ STAFF

Fox News host Mike Huckabee claims Oscar winner Natalie Portman is a bad role model for America -- all because she got knocked up before marriage.

Huckabee went on a radio show Monday and said, "One of the most troubling things is that people see a Natalie Portman or some other Hollywood starlet that boasts of, hey look, we're having children, we're not married, but we're having children and they're doing just fine."

Portman is engaged to her baby daddy -- co-star Benjamin Millepied.

Huckabee -- a Republican who could make a run for the White House -- added, "There aren't really a lot of single moms out there that are making millions of dollars each year by being in a movie"

"I think it gives a distorted image that not everybody hires nannies and caretakers and nurses. Most single moms are very poor, uneducated, can't get a job, and if it weren't for government assistance, their kids would be starving to death and would not get healthcare."

So far, Portman has yet to respond.

I think he should focus on the problem of teen pregnancy rather than "unmarried" pregnancy. Someone can be 35 and unmarried, have a child, and still be living with the child's father and have a successful family. The things he's worried about in unmarried mothers are more common in teen mothers; even then, he's making a huge overgeneralization. And it's really ridiculous to blame one actress when most of Hollywood has children out of wedlock. And, as other posters have said, when he's asked how he feels about Bristol Palin's pregnancy, he will sound like a hypocrite. Very, very stupid statement for him to make, especially since he probably plans on running next year.

I have a few friends who are single moms because the "fathers" are pieces of sh*t who would rather NOT pay child support or stick around or get a divorce because "maybe they were not ready for marriage."

How about instead of knocking on the women who get stuck raising the kids while the sperm doners are running around living their life carefree-start holding muth$%fu*$ers accountable for what they brought into the world. Then, maybe welfare would not be needed as badly. It's ALWYAS the womens fault. Really, the fault is at the feet of the absent father.

F*CK you Mr. Huckabee.

Let me add my comments in the "What Did He Say About Bristol Palin?" camp.

What an idiot.

Would you prefer she abort instead? Can't have everything both ways Mike.

She is a total heathen. But who cares, it's her and her child that will suffer... It's the way of the world to bring children into broken or nonexistent homes.

Well, he didn't make any statement that wasn't the truth... Facts are facts - blah blah blah...

He's right. It is not about more money for schools and head start it is about everybody babies that don't have a family unit. It does distort reality.

This sounds like a rerun of Dan Quayle commenting on Murphy Brown.

Good for Mike Huckabee! Tell it Brotha,

These Hollywood (and not so Hollywood) men and women give a VERY unhealthy, distorted, and freakish slant to life.

Look at Bat SH*T Crazy Anjelina and Brad, Woody Allen and Mia Farrow (that's one HUGE Greek Tragedy right there) and that just to name a few...

Wake up people, having a child is not the problem, the problem is the lifestyle in which the child has been born into.

Who wants to bet Portman and that dude NEVER makes it to the alter? These people seldom do.

I'd really like to consider voting for the GOP candidate in 2012, but I had to vote against Mr. Palin in 2008, so Mr. Obama received my vote. I'd hate to have to vote once again for Mr. Obama, but if Mr. Huckabee was the GOP nomination, that would be where I would cast my vote.

And for people who are saying that the problem is that Natalie Portman makes it look "glamorous:" EVERYONE knows that Hollywood stars have different lives than people who work normal or "middle class" jobs. They know that they are extremely wealthy and people do NOT go out and try to get pregnant when they're not married because someone in Hollywood makes it look glamorous. Celebrities also make having extramaritial affairs look glamorous, but that doesn't mean that people try to copy them.

He didnt say anything about unwed mother Bristol Palin. Republicans are so hypocritical. Most of them are gay, but dont like gays. Cheat on their wives. And who is he to judge since he is a mormon who believed African Americans were not human not that long ago. He will never be president as long as he thinks he is God himself.
