Warner Bros. to Charlie:

Here's Why You're Fired

3/7/2011 8:25 PM PST BY TMZ STAFF

TMZ has obtained a letter Warner Bros. sent to Charlie Sheen's lawyer, stating Charlie was being terminated because he committed a felony involving "moral turpitude."

Charlie Sheen Termination Letter
In the 11-page letter, obtained from sources connected to Charlie, Warner Bros. states, "Your client has been engaged in dangerously self-destructive conduct and appears to be very ill."

The letter then goes on to describe Charlie's hijinks, including trashing the Plaza Hotel in NYC, coke binges, on-set failures because of drug fatigue, and diatribes against "Two and a Half Men" creator Chuck Lorre.

The letter also notes that Charlie derailed production when he went into rehab, and then he fired his sobriety coach.  In fact, Warner Bros. claims it was so concerned about Charlie's well-being, "Warner Bros. had an airplane waiting" to take him to a treatment facility ... but Charlie would have none of it.

As for why Charlie got fired, the letter says there is a clause in his contract saying they can fire a performer who commits "a felony offense involving moral turpitude."

The letter says, "There is ample evidence supporting Warner Bros. reasonable good faith opinion that Mr. Sheen has committed felony offenses involving moral turpitude (including but not limited to furnishing of cocaine to others as part of the self-destructive lifestyle he has described publicly) that have 'interfere[d] with his ability to fully and completely render all material services required' under the agreement."

In short, that's why Charlie was fired.

Charlie's lawyer, Marty Singer, has demanded Warner Bros. pay Charlie for the eight canceled episodes -- or else.

Warner Bros. seems undaunted by the threat, even reserving its right to take legal action against Charlie.

IN THE AGE THAT WE LIVE IN, YOU WOULD THINK THAT SOMEONE SHOULD TAKE CHARGE OF THIS HUMAN BEING WITH HIS MENTAL HEALTH STATUS. IT'S OBVIOUS THAT HE NEEDS SOME SORT OF TREATMENT FOR HIS CONDITION. WHAT HAPPEN TO BEING BAKER ACTED BY FAMILY, FRIENDS OR
BY SOMEONE IN THE MEDICAL FIELD? A MENTAL DISORDER ORDER SHOULD BE TREATED NO DIFFERENT THAN ANY OTHER ILLNESS. IT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED AND TAKEN CARE OF BY DOCTORS,FAMILY AND FRIENDS. I PRAY THAT SOMEONE WILL STEP UP TO THE PLATE AND GIVE HIM THE REAL ATTENTION THAT HE DESPERATELY NEEDS.
THANK YOU,

I unabashedly am on Charlie's side in this in the same way we were all with Howard Beal from "Network" for a while when America came together around "I'm mad as hell, and I'm not going to take it anymore."

That said I want shake Mr. Spiegel's hand for one incredibly well constructed response. It's not just Charlie's actions, it's the way he brings you through the chronology to paint an almost come-to-life image of Sheen's fall. It's painful to read. This is some $1,000 an hour suit who really brought it. Nice job.

I also have to say some of Charlie's Ustream.tv stuff was total genius as well. It was gonzo, compelling, magical moments as you watched tens of thousands of people watching him do his thing live. Lenny Bruce, early Max Headroom, Tom Waitts kind of stuff. I loved it.

But I gotta say it again, that suit's letter was killer. I wish I could write just one thing that well.

Because he did some coke? Guess what? Practically everyone in Hollywood has snorted coke. They're all a bunch of drunks and dopers. I bet the people who wrote the letter have done coke. And how would they know Charlie did coke unless they were doing it too, heck they were probably snorting his coke. Moral turpitude? Hollywood is just a bunch of script thieves--I've had half a dozen scripts stolen from me, including "Shakespeare In Love" and "No Country For Old Men". Script theft is the real moral turpitude in Hollywood, one of the most heinous crimes imaginable.

One problem, people. Warner Brothers can say Charlie committed a felony, but since when has Charlie been to court to prove he committed said felony? Warner Brothers is over a barrel. Sadly, we have to side with Charlie on this one. We don't want to, but justice must be done. They fired him just to get him out of their hair.

Amazing that supposedly educated people do not know the difference between "ordnance" and "ordinance".

Mr. Sheen has accomplished something that I was not sure was possible, he makes Sarah Palin look reasoned and statesmenlike. The real tragedy here is that everyone can see an epic train wreck on the horizon, (except Charlie), and the only one doing anything is his lawyer, who is loking in his fee.....

In my view,as Mr. Sheen's employer, Warner Brothers had every right to fire him. He caused monetary damages due to his lifestyle, resulting in delayed and/or cancellations for filming, layoffs of camerapeople, set people, other actors, directors, to name a few. He defamed many of the people who hired and paid him serious money for his performance in the show. He caused damage to his family, his ex-wives, and his innocent children by his behavior. The man is very ill. If there were some way of involuntarily commiting him into rehab indefinitely, it could save his life.

Yay I hate Hollywood

Warner Brothers put this crap on the air. Just because the Sheen (who looks like an old man) is gone, doesn't mean W Bros is done making evil schlock.

If any employee deserved termination, it's Sheen. The "felony" is just another allegation of breach and Sheen made an admission in public about conduct that amounts to a felony. Sheen convicted himself. For those of you that find humor in Sheen's behavior, would it be funny if it was your key employee? Do you think you could act this way on a job? It is untenable. Aside from Sheen personally, I can't help but wonder why this show was so popular, in this day, when it's overall "comedy" was aimed at how to get a woman in bed, be rude, always drinking and smoking. Am I alone? Does anyone think about this? Sheen deserved to be fired. How is anyone biwinning that can't read a contract they entered into and have for the past several years.
