Charlie Sheen: I Have a Michael J. Fox Clause!

3/8/2011 9:12 AM PST BY TMZ STAFF

Charlie Sheen's people claim ... if Warner Bros. replaces Charlie Sheen and keeps producing "Two and a Half Men" -- Charlie keeps drawing a paycheck.

0307_charlie_sheen_michael_j_fox_EX_TMZ

Sources connected with Charlie tell us ... Charlie has what they call a "Michael J. Fox" clause in his contract.  When Fox was doing "Spin City," his contract provided that he would keep getting paid as long as the show was in production, even if he left the show.  Ironically, when Charlie took over for Michael, Michael kept drawing his salary.

Sources say when Charlie signed on for "Two and a Half Men" ... the original contract provided an identical clause, so Charlie's people believe Warner Bros. is on the hook if they keep producing the show.

Here's the rub.  Warner Bros. claims they fired Charlie for cause, nullifying the contract.

These are the battles that keep lawyers employed.

It's a shame when someone that is talented wastes so much. Charlie Sheen has the ability to create laughter as well as a fortune to help others. Here, he wastes it all while there are millions of displaced people here in America that would beg for a chance to live above poverty. Homeless parents and children......the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the one. His wastefullness shows the lack of concern and the arrogance he has for the everyday person. Charlie will only care for Charlie and extend his finger to the rest of the world. He deserves whatever backlash, criticism and loss of financial gain comes to him.

I totally agree with Grandma, send him on an extended vacation and find a way to write in another character. The show can live without Charlie, but not Jake.

I never watched the show either. Sitcom generally are not that funny and seem to a appeal to people without much intellect. Cougar Town was funny when it first aired but not anymore. Modern Family is VERY funny even though they make gay men look like girlie men. Especially the fat one. It's funny but at the same time it paints a negative picture about gay men. "Men" might be a funny show? I know I see clips of the reruns and John Crier is VERY good! It seems like Charlie need to be institutionalized for his own good. Where is dad while all this is going on? He needs professional help, badly!

Never watch the show the two and a half gay man Charlie Sheen. But I did always used to watch Sin City with Micheal J Fox but after Fox left the show it just wasn't the same or funny without Fox. Can't wait to see this low life white trash Charlie Sheen killed himself with drugs. Please just killed your self now so we all can move on without this ******* Charlie Sheen.

The contract would be the only thing Sheen would have in common with Michael J Fox. He has never been or never will be the actor Fox is and the only thing funny about the show was years ago when Jake was young. Sheen does not make the show.

Unfortunately when the legal dust settles, that is if Sheen is more deranged than we suspect, and he takes it to court, he'll loose. Warner Bros. TV wouldn't have taken the action they have unless they throughly investigated their legal grounds. Any court would see that there's clearly enough evidence to support Sheen's multiple violations of the moral clause of his contract. Too bad, he's a wuss, "Oh it's such hard duty, they are all so nasty to me". And I thought the Gabor sisters and their mother were rotten-spoiled babys, this wuss takes the cake, this is his only win. Will the real Charlie Sheen step forward...and comes the wuss/baby...

I don't see how CBS can win on a morals clause. He is the character the writers write about!

Why not just pay the whores and coke dealers directly and skip Charlie. It will save time.

I am sad to see the Charlie Sheen meltdown. I have admired the person he was for years. It sucks to be a celebrity, and the whole world sees it. He should cool it. Really.

Charlie Sheen is in need of help. The people that are around him laughing and pretending nothing is wrong are not helping him - they are called enablers. Sheen is paying people to say what he wants to hear and we all know money talks. I hope Sheen hits the bottom soon(and he will) so he has no choice but to admit what is wrong and admit he needs help. There is only one way he is going now and that is down.

I wonder what "cause" Warner Bros. will cite for terminating Sheen's contract. He has plenty of witnesses to verify he provided the samples for drug testing and that he passed all of them. There has been others in Hollyweird that have gotten drunk, gotten arrested, acted insane and said stupid things and disrespected those they have worked with and for. So, what is the legitimate "cause" for termination... could it be alleging "cause" because it is their only parachute out of honoring his "Michael J. Fox golden egg clause?" It'll be interesting to see who is WINNNNING as this plays out in court.

I agree with the post from #15, Grandma.
I love this show and always look forward to watching it. Yes, he's an idiot for saying and acting as he has recently but he's funny and quite frankly his private life doesn't affect me in the least. He is a great actor. Since he's been fired from the show though, I too believe that they should bring in John Stamos and keep the show going The other actors are great too and before you know it, Charlie Sheen will be a thing of the
past. It's also not fair that the other actors have to end their roles just because of Sheen.
