I like Gilbert, but this VERY short statement seems more like a PR gambit than a sincere apology. And a bit too late to save his job. Let's here some of his comedian friends make some jokes about his losing his job...you know, turnabout being fair play.

I hate insincere apologies. Obviously he did mean to be offensive, so at least be honest about it.

People do not know how to laugh anymore. He did not say those things to lessen the scope of the tragedy. It is his type of humor. If you don't enjoy it, listen to someone else.

He meant no disrespect to the suffering, dead and dying? What exactly did he mean when he made jokes at their expense?

the only thing he is sorry about is that he got fired for his actions, he lost a paycheck selfish azz hole that thinks he can say any thing and get away with it because of free speech.

Japan is having one of the worse disasters they have ever seen. Gilbert should have known better, and I don't blame Alflac at all. They don't want to be associated with a tasteless comedian who should have known better. What is happening there to all those poor people is no Joke!
