Gilbert Gottfried Apology on Twitter -- Sorry About the Tsunami Jokes

If this guy has any sense at all he new how tastless and cruel his "jokes" were. There is no humor in thousands dead, lives destroyed and Japan facing a radiation crisis. If your apology is sincere get your butt in gear and start raising money for the victims.

I vote to forgive. All comedians teeter on a thin line between what is funny and what is too far beyond the acceptable.

I also think comedians quite naturally try to deal with tragedy with humor. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. He wasn't being malicious, just made a mistake about the response. Too soon, Gilbert.

Crossed the humor line. Some things just aren't funny.

Of course Gilbert doesn't deserve to be fired. But Afflac had to fire him because Afflac is a premiere health & home insurance company doing MOST of their business in Japan.

If he meant no disrespect, what exactly did he mean, besides thinking he was funny. There is a time and a place for everything. A person should never make humor at the expense of someone else's misery.

We've all said bad jokes sometimes. We don't always have a huge audience, but sometimes we say something off-color and it's not taken the right way and then we think back and feel bad for saying something stupid. It happens to all of us. Anyone who denies that is only lying to themselves.

There's honestly more important issues to worry about than some comedian's bad joke. Let the man go, he's said he was sorry, took down his posts, I say all is forgiven.

Did anyone get fired for telling AIG jokes or wall street jokes? And what about Monica Lewinsky/Bill Clinton jokes?

Why can't we see it as a tasteless joke like so many before this one?

Adam Sandler and Eddie Murphy tell truly tasteless jokes but they still gets hired.

all in all, AFLAC hired a funny voice. That voice belongs to a Comedian who makes his living condescending people on stage and at Roasts. AFLAC knew who Gilbert was but never fired him for making fun of other celebrities, races, religions, etc. in the past.

Gilbert also lends his voice out to movies and cartoons. Are they going to follow AFLAC's termination?

Perhaps too soon, definitely in bad taste, BUT, US food, US lumber, US hay, all go there now! I can't even get good hay in most of the western US, as contracts have it being sent to Japan and that was BEFORE this tragedy! We ALWAYS help, but time to take a good look at what WE need before we give it all away. Gilbert deserves his job back. Who can he hurt as a duck! Bad taste and bad timing do not necessarily make him a BAD man.

Wow, I did respect Gilbert until this. I LOVED the fact the he had the grapes to crack a funny joke, but now that he's gone back on his words that respect is gone.

All right people, what he said was wrong but an apology is an apology. I accept that. What I can't accept are the racist posters like Sugarbutt and Tea Party Mom who post their hate against Jews. You type of people say things that are a lot worse than any joke that GG has ever said. I'm pretty sure you feel the same way about black and Mexican people. As if you are far more superior than them. Take a look in the mirror, dummies. Look into your eyes and see the hate, then ask yourselves how you can live that way and be okay with it.

Unfortuantely these 2 are a prime example of why incest is both legally and morally wrong. After generations of procreating with their own family members this is the result....a backwoods moron!
