Kelly Clarkson

Best Buy Fixed My

Orphan Problem

3/17/2011 6:00 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

Kelly Clarkson waged war on Best Buy this week -- after one store refused to sell her iPods for her orphan charity drive -- but, fortunately, this story has a happy ending.

Kelly wrote a diatribe on her Facebook page on Tuesday -- claiming Best Buy at the Ridgemar Mall in Fort Worth, TX refused to sell her iPod shuffles ... citing a store policy which limits how many iPods they can sell to a customer.

But according to sources at Best Buy, no such policy exists ... and corporate is PISSED -- in fact, a BB rep even left an apology on Clarkson's Facebook, explaining, "We spoke to the management [at Ridgemar] and they'd like to apologize for this experience ... their intention was not to upset you."

But that's not all Best Buy did -- after Kelly was allowed to buy the iPods she wanted at a nearby location ... BB corporate donated a bunch to her charity. Hooray!

Best Buy just kissed up to her because she is a celebrity. Any other customer they would have told to get lost. Best Buy is like this. This is not an isolated incident.

It's not just Best Buy, it's ALL retail brick/mortar stores. Their customer service is horrible, the employees are all rude, and if god forbid you need to return something, you better be ready to give up your blood type. Then, they wonder what happened to their customers! Are you kidding me? You chased them off with your rudeness. Maybe once all these big box stores with rude employees shut down, then people will start to realize that you can't treat customers like cr*p, and think for one minute that they will continue to shop with you. There ARE other choices. Take your dollars to the stores with a smile and a thank you.

To #18: While people are allowed a tax deduction for donations, if this charity is indeed HER charity and she's on the board of directors, she would not be allowed to take the deduction, or at the least, it would "look bad" for her to take any type of deduction. Her purchases are a "gift" to the charity and she is out the money 100%. THAT is what makes giving so rewarding, not the deduction.

Nice to see you're using one her baby pictures instead of a recent one where she's about three times as big!

These self-grandiose "celebrities" get on my nerves. Whine and cry on your Facebook page like a child. Grow up Kelly. It's no wonder you're still single. Shocking.

Kelly's friend/back-up singer Kate's father runs Houses For Hope orphanage in South Africa. She visited the orpnans while on tour, and had some of them perform on stage with her in SA. She recently performed at a benefit for the orphange and introduced a new original song about their plight, "You Still Don't Know What It's Like." Her and her band have all taked about how moved they were by the experience of visiting the orpnans, so it's a good bet the iPods are for these kids. Don't forget that the iPods are not only used for music, but can also be used for language tutoring and general education as well.

BB sucks and their stock price moving lower for months proves it. They don't care about customers even though they try to sell themselves as the place to go for service. I wound't buy a package of batteries there if they were the last on earth.

Kelly, stop acting like a whiney, immature kid looking for trouble where there is none. Concentrate instead on losing 50 pounds before you have a stroke at an early age!

I'm sure your body is PERFECT? Right? Even if it's perfect on the outside, there's something terribly wrong with your insides (i.e. your soul).

Keep your hateful comments to yourself.

Best Buy is the worst store ever! Do NOT buy an appliance there. I bought a dishwasher that broke after three weeks. A month and a half later, going through second and third parties that became my problem- not theirs, I still had no dishwasher. I told them to shove it and went to Sears. And for all my troubles I got a $40.00 gift card AFTER I called corporate. I would have loved a few Ipods. I guess I can still buy a couple CDs or some ear buds with it.

Why do orphans need iPods? This charity thing has gotten completely out of control. Most children with parents don't have or need iPods. Most parents don't have iPods. Who would even believe that there was a charity to distribute iPods to children? Despite that, virtually every store has this same policy. When items are on sale, specially priced, or in limited supply it's usually one per customer and a lot of adds even state that policy. Otherwise, the iPods would end up on eBay at greatly inflated prices and the stores would have none to sell.
