Lindsay's Jeweler

Shops Book Deal!

3/16/2011 6:40 PM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

The jewelry store that was allegedly victimized by Lindsay Lohan has been shopping a book deal ... TMZ has learned ... and it's becoming a nightmare for prosecutors.

The publicist for Kamofie & Co. contacted Sharlene Martin, a literary agent, early last week and said his client -- the owners of Kamofie -- wanted to do a book deal.  Martin told the agent the necklace incident "was a moment, not a book."

Martin, who specializes in crime-related books, told the publicist, "You shouldn't waste any literary agent's time.  Call the Enquirer if you want."

Kamofie has already sold the surveillance video, and the latest effort makes the victim look so mercenary, it could jeopardize the prosecutor's case.

UPDATE: A rep for Kamofie & Co. tells us, "We have no book deal pending."

"The actions of the store make Lilo's story more plausible all the time."

Her initial story was that she was never in the store. Is that plausible? What is her current story?

"It is a fact that stores like this lend and or give celebrities stuff all the time for the free publicity."

Not without proper do***entation to protect both parties.

"Why they decided to turn it into a theft this time is beyond reason."

Yes, it is beyond reason that the story would lend Lohan the necklace and then call the police. The question is, if it is beyond reason, why do you believe it?

"All they had to do i call her people and get the necklace back. She was a frequent customer."

Apparently the store did call her, and she ignored them. But that is irrelevant - it isn't the victims responsibility to try to recover stolen property on their own.

The state has to prove that Lindsay had intent to steal the necklace and that she intended to permanently deprive the store of it. Read the law. Any juror will see reasonable doubt now that the store has sold the video for 40k announced a charity auction of the necklace for publicity and attempted to make a book deal. The store also said that they didn't want to press charges and I don't think by their behavior that they want to see Lindsay go to jail, they are the prosecutions key witness. The store is responsible for keeping track of jewelry that they take out of the case and returning it to the case......DUH......WINNING

"So, if Holley can make a case that the store lent the necklace to LiLo "

The only way that Holley can make that case is if somebody testifies to that effect, since there is no doc-umentation. Who can testify for her? Only Lohan.

So either of two things will happen - Lohan will take the plea deal, or Lohan will take the stand.

Yes this store and its obvious lies, are looking more suspicious day by day. Lindsay was absolutely correct in proclaiming her innocense. The store owners are looking extremely shady, and are just looking for publicity to prop up a failing business.

I imagine Lindsay will successfully sue for defamation of character, and walk away owning this store. Lindsays strength has been amazing during this whole ordeal. I imagine Hollywood producers, have taken notice to the change that Lindsay has taken, and are flooding her agent with the top scripts.

I imagine its only a matter of time before Lindsay once again is the queen of the box office, and starts raking in the multi million dollar salaries befitting an international superstar of her magnitude. Lindsay with the changes you have made in your life, Hollywood has noticed, and Hollywood salutes you.

If there were any plausible explanation there would have been no charges in the first place.

The idea that Lindsay's persistently and consistently bad action over time are the result of some vast conspiracy is laughable. The tabs will let Lohan run with it, till she's used up, which is any minute now.

John, anybody with any sense knows that if somebody takes something out of a store, they will be found guilty if caught. In your fantasy world, nobody would ever go to jail for theft, because all they would have to say is that they were borrowing the item and intended to return it. I doubt that Lohan can count on anybody as gullible as you being on her jury.

I knew there was a set up somewhere. Lohan has craftily set events in motion that effectively allow her to steal every item in the store.

Rachel Zoe was just named #1 celebrity designer.

They tell the shop if it's editorial, in which the store or designer gets credit for the garment/jewelry in an advertisement, in lieu of payment.

They pick multiple items in a store, which is consigned to them;whatever isn't used is returned while they are billed for what the celeb client keeps!

Lohan is a thief!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

All it takes to prove that is that someone leaves the store without paying. YOU read the law.

Lindsay's guilty as sin, but since she's the luckiest person alive it's looking more and more like she'll get off. This is so stupid.

Stupid? Maybe. it's evidence to me that Lindsay prefers making a buck off of ongoing manufactured drama over recovery and reviving a real career.

Although I am not a Lindsey Lohan fan, this entire case has seemed a bit sketchy to me from the start...

That aside, I find it hard to believe that the store would be trying to get a book deal out of this incident. If this post were about the store trying to cut a deal with a tabloid, it would be more believable, but a book deal? This sounds too absurd to be true...

Haha--the only scripts that Lindsay is getting are Xanax from the the corner drug store.

If 35% of people polled believe she is innocent, and if the poll is representative of the general population in the area from which the jury pool will be selected, and if it will be a jury trial (obviously), and if Lindsay gets a good jury selection consultant, then Lindsay will be found "not guilty" or it will be a "hung trial" (I don't know, do they have "hung trials" in California?) if she goes to trial on this charge, because she is a celebrity and California juries usually have at least 1 juror on them who will not vote to convict a celebrity no matter what the evidence.
