'Alfred' from 'Batman' Movies -- Dead at 94

3/17/2011 11:55 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

Michael Gough -- the actor who played Alfred the butler in four major "Batman" movies -- has died at the age of 94.

Michael Gough Dead

Gough has one hell of a resume dating back to the '40s ... including "Out of Africa" and "The Boys from Brazil."

But one of Gough's most impressive accomplishments -- he was the ONLY person who didn't make a complete ass out of himself in the 1997 disaster "Batman and Robin."

Such a very good actor! The industry would lost such a big asset!

And I would like to greet Sam Botta a "Happy Birthday and Congratulation in your new show "Live Fearless" produced by Movie Tech Studio.

Director Ewing Miles (Lucky) Brown says Sam Botta has lost 70 lbs for this show.

Class act all the way. Never heard this guy in the papers for anything bad at all. Much different than the breed of stars we have today.

I thought he died about a month ago. Nonetheless, I hope he was a Christian.

I grew up with him. I knew him well WAAY before Batman. All those great 50's, 60's and 70's horror flicks. He was working up until he passed. Been doing lots of voice overs for Tim Burton's films. Makes me sad that someone I grew up with (I am almost 51) is gone.

I got that same impression from him, also. I say before someone can be a "celebrity" from music, acting, sports, etc., they should have to attend a finishing school/college so they don't make an ass out of themselves in the public spotlight (they are well-overpaid as well). These new, young celebs have no sense of morality because their parents don't teach them anything.

RIP Mr. Gough!

I had the great pleasure of meeting this gentleman (and he was a true gentleman) several years back. When I asked him for his autograph he was very pleasant and happy to talk to a fan. He was CLASS...old school..old Hollywood class!

Best regards to his family! God Bless!
