Partial List of Celebs

Targeted By Hackers

3/17/2011 2:10 PM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

TMZ now has a partial list of the celebs who had compromising pictures and video stolen from their computers and mobile devices by a group of hackers.

Celebrity Hacked Phones
The list includes Vanessa Hudgens, Ali Larter, Busy Philipps, Scarlett Johansson, Miley Cyrus, Emma Caulfield, Addison Timlin and Renee Olstead.

TMZ broke the story ... the FBI sat down with Vanessa Hudgens Wednesday for more than an hour to determine how her Gmail account got hacked.

We're told 50 celebs had compromising photos and videos stolen by one group, and one of the ringleaders has his fingerprints on every job.

Our sources say the hackers' primary motivation is the thrill and challenge of it all -- not the money.

Law enforcement sources tell us the FBI is closing in on the hackers.

Many TMZ posters--and some in the media--are confused by the role played by G-Mail in this big organized criminal enterprise: The criminals used a G-mail insider to get the passwords of many celebs. Since many people use the same passwords for many purposes, like cel phones or other online accounts, once the hackers got the passwords from the G-mail insider, they could use the same passwords to break into other accounts, like cel phones. So the photos were not necessarily in the celebs' G-mail accounts. In the case of Miley Cyrus, the FBI started an investigation in 2007 and found that her G-mail password allowed the hacker to get into her cel phone, which was where all of the extremely tame and mild pictures of her in underwear and swim suits were stolen from.

Strange. Miley said publicly that her pics were stolen off her LOST phone. Phones do get lost, and that's a very good reason to not put your photos on your phone. Maybe you're out and leave your phone on the table and a "friend" sends your photos to someone and deletes the call? How about the person at the phone store who transfers all your stuff to a new phone? Do you leave your old phone with them? I wouldn't trust them either.

Well I only hear about two of the names listes, and only because they have been mentioned on TMZ. Never seen any of them unless they were perhaps the blindfolded chick starring opposite the Donkey.

I am not even sure the names listed are "c-listers"

Were any male celebs hacked?

Chris: Your statement that "There is nothing illegal about people--even celebrities--taking intimate pictures of themselves to share with their intimate partners..." is not entirely true, especially if the photos are distributed to others. Photos of underage teens are completely illegal and some teens have been prosecuted for it. I just don't buy the hacked story. It's the excuse of first choice when idiots send photos to their partner or friend and they get passed on to others. If hackers can get to your photos they would also have access to a lot of other personal stuff and nothing else ever seems to get leaked.

There is a HUGE budget deficit and THIS is how the FBI is spending our tax dollars?? REALLY??? Aren't there any unsolved murders or missing people that they can look for? Are we being endangered by celebs naked pictures?!?! NOTE TO CELEBS: DON'T PUT NAKED PICTURES OF YOURSELF ON CELL PHONES AND PC'S! Better yet, don't TAKE naked pictures of yourself unless you are prepared for them to one day become public! DUH!

If sense were common everyone would have it.

Of course they hacked people; when you have nothing better to do ALL DAY & NIGHT than sit behind your computer, you get a lot of experience. Their mother's should do them a favor & kick them out of their basements.

The FBI?! Really?! What a waste of taxpayer dollars! Instead of sending nude pics, just iChat with the guy (or girl, however you roll). Once he logs off, you got ur rocks off, he saw you naked, and no one else will.

The funny part is that unless the so called "hackers" are in America or Canada possibly, theres nothing the FBI can do.
