Wyclef Jean -- Shot in Haiti, Released from Hospital

3/20/2011 10:59 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

Wyclef Jean was shot in the hand yesterday just outside Port-au-Prince in Haiti.

Wyclef Jean Shot
He was treated at a local hospital and released.

A rep for the singer said the bullet just grazed his hand and he's doing well, saying, "He’s fine now. It happened late yesterday night and he was released after a couple hours.”

The shooting comes on the eve of the presidential elections.  Wyclef was a candidate but ruled ineligible because of residency requirements.

UPDATE: Wyclef says he had just left his car, when he heard gunfire. He says the next thing he noticed ... he saw blood on his shirt and shoes. He has no idea who fired shots or whether he was even the target.

Sit right back an' hear a tale
Of a hustler 'round my way
Who used to clock around the block
From where my grandma stayed

Black BMW with rims to match
Windows bulletproof
One night, he jumped out the car
An' caught a bullet in his bubblegoose

He caught a bullet in his bubblegoose
He caught a bullet in his bubblegoose
You can be at the party gettin' loose
But you can catch a bullet in your bubblegoose

Hey yo, hey yo, my pen's in my hand
Okay, what should I write next?
Oh, yeah, an' if you don't know
Success brings stress

Well, well, well...
Someone was shot, whether its true or not, thief, liar, black, white...whatever the case maybe. At the end of the day someone got hurt and people wanted it to be a bullet in the head. What is this world coming to?
If Wyclef was disqualified last August and he is still in poor Haiti when he can live a luxurious life somewhere else, I think he still cares about Haiti.
For all those who said his songs are crap, its your oppinion and you are entitled to that because an oppinion is like an a$$ hole, everyone has one. you can't please everyone.
And for some reason I sense, racism, hatred and ofcourse jealousy.
Just saying...

Believ or not Wyclef fans. He is part of teh establishment to opress his own people. It is not a surprise. The man could have invested a mere 4 million dollars to distribute a cure for cholrea, erect homes, bring in food and water. He did nothing.
So there is no love lost.

That country is too effed-up. They ought to be concentrating on cleaning up that basket case, instead of trying to get rid of anybody that might actually do good.
