Kobe Bryant

Homophobic Slur

During NBA Game?

4/13/2011 10:34 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

Kobe Bryant appeared to hurl a homophobic slur towards an NBA referee during a Los Angeles Lakers basketball game last night ... and it was all caught on tape.

It happened during the 3rd quarter after Kobe got hit with a technical foul. The NBA star -- clearly upset -- screams for the ref (Bennie Adams) and appears to mouth the words, "F**king f**got."

One of the announcers then comments, "You might wanna take the cameras off of him right now, for the children watching."

UPDATE: A rep for the team tells us, "The Lakers can not confirm that is what Kobe said or not."

Freedom of speech in the United States is protected by the First Amendment to the United States Constitution. I guess someone forgot to read the "fine print"...? I guess it should read "Freedom of speech: AS LONG AS YOU WATCH WHAT YOU SAY"...? Kobe keep yo head up! Really, the GAY/LESBIAN community needs to get their panties out of a bunch and move on... it's a word.

I was watching TMZ criticize Kobe for making the comment he did and that he should have never said that since he's a grown man. Now give me a break! since when does age have anything to do with it??? And right after that statement from TMZ they started making fun of a FAT celebrity (in their own words) I guess it's ok to make fun of FAT people but not ok to make comments about F*** F****!!! Only in California are we so sensitive about that topic!

It is a big deal and this is why. The word ***got and gay have taken on a derogatory meaning. If a white player called a ref ******, meaning an ignorant person, a lot of people would be quit offended. The word ***got should not be used period. The word gay should not be used when you are trying to say something is lame or stupid. You can not say that it is OK to use one derogatory term but not the other. I know homosexuals are second class citizens in this country but so were black people at one point in time. The upset is not over Kobe's use of the word, it is the use of the word in general.

Clearly, some of these readers are straight and homophobic themselves. I, myself, sit here and fume viciously but silently, attempting to collect myself and put forth a reasonable statement in this little box.
Clearly, some of these readers also have no idea what it's like to be abused and mistreated due to their minority status.... OR they just figure they're the only people in the world who matter.
Who cares?? You'd care if someone attacked YOU.
Either way, I'm with Czguest, the ***g@T who says F@ck you Kobe.

Here's more on what I had to say about it, if anyone CARES (not like anyone would want to do that, oh god...): http://goddessblue.wordpress.com/2011/04/14/kobe-uses-the-f-word/

Geez, c'mon Much ado about mostly nothing. So some loud-mouth screamed something "red" during the heat of the moment. GLAAD acts as if he killed someone or something.

Hey Rob, if this makes you happy, people are making a big deal! Too much of a big deal! And what do we need to ask Denver? We never knew for sure what happened?? Only two people knew, so don't be so quick to accuse! The female involved had friends that said she was bragging about it after the attack! There's several things that were not clear on both sides. So just because you're a Kobe hater, doesn't mean you're right! There's no double standards here!

nba fan

did someone say this is a minority status or issue? since when is being gay a minority status? It's a choice of lifestyle! But anyways, people say all kinds of derogatory things when they're pissed of, and no it doesn't make it right it just makes us human. He already apologized people.......weather he meant it or not it's between him and his conscious! Let's quit trying to hang someone for being just that human and imperfect! No one is perfect! and quit hating him so much for having what you wish you had! come on people you know that's the reason you're so angry at him!

Although it's not breaking news, I wonder what Kobe calls his wife when he's mad at her?! Considering he's Black, his wife is Mexican and their children are half of the two, Kobe should think twice before calling anyone anything that's racist and/or offensive. You're in the public eye. Be more responsible. Remember your fan base ($$$$$) includes the very people you insulted.

Talking about blowing **** out of proportion
The word ***got is not use for Gay people(see below)
*** (făg) n.
1.An extremely annoying person
2.An inconsiderate douchebag
3.A loud and obnoxious person
So yes Kobe Bryant was right the Ref is a "FF", learn your slang
is 2011 lol

Doesn't surprise me. I have never thought much of Kobe. He didn't have the brains to finish college, thought he was a super-star the minute he went pro and hasn't failed to live up to that moniker yet. He'll never be a Michael Jordan and is the reason I don't watch the Lakers.
